Hey everyone! I recently moved to Colombo and I’m trying to find things to do on my own and hopefully meet new people along the way.

I came across a book club at Neko & Kopi, but I was honestly too shy to approach them 😅 Also not sure I can fully commit to regular reading, but I’d still love to try something similar just to get out there.

I’ve also seen some tabletop game meetups happening, but unfortunately they tend to fall on days I’m out of town.

Are there any other clubs, groups, or activities you’d recommend? Open to pretty much anything casual and beginner-friendly!

As an Arsenal fan myself I’ve only ever met 4 other Arsenal fans whilst being surrounded by people who watch football and have played football all their life 😔 I refuse to believe there isn’t more of us

Hi everyone!

How are y’all coping with this heat?

I can barely cook at home or do any chores during the daytime, and it just keeps getting worse.

For context: I came to colombo from India for a month for business. This is my first time coming here and I only get free during weekends. Can you all please suggest some places that I can go to just during weekends to explore the country. I have soo many options and I am literally overwhelmed and confused.

One more constraint I have is that, if I can get receipts of travel I can claim that as reimbursement from my company, so preferably want to travel on Buses and trains for long journey rather than cabs where you don't get receipts.

My colleagues suggested me to go to Whale watching, Safari(in 3 different places) Kandy, Ella, Galle, Mirissa etc.

I have three weekends left and need help planning these rightly. Please help.

Thanks in advance !

Ps:- I will be travelling alone and I don't drink or smoke. Not that into clubbing and partying.

Looking to buy a 13-inch IPad Air M3/M4 over the next couple of weeks. Recs on the best place to buy? I bought one from LuxuryX a couple of years ago, but recently there was this news that they are selling used products/repackaged stuff. What are the other good places to buy? SparkTech? Rooter? I need the International Version, because I use FaceTime a lot.

Posting here, got removed on the Sri Lanka sub 🙄

I'm looking for a house/apartment rent, I'm F, budget 60k max 1BHK. Should be around Colombo and suburbs. This is urgent as need to vacate my current place in 3 weeks.

Ikman and other websites don't have anything that's around my budget and I'm not sure how people find rental houses. I posted this here so I could get some help.

Ps: don't private message, just use this to discuss openly. TIA

Hi all, planning a 5-day Sri Lanka trip:
Landing in Colombo
Thinking of renting a **self-drive car**
Might return to India via **Jaffna ferry** (not confirmed)
**Questions:**
Is self-drive easy for tourists? Need IDP? Any rental suggestions?

How’s the **weather in June** – is it too rainy for a road trip?

Best 5-day route (Kandy/Ella/South coast?)

Is the **Jaffna–India ferry** running and reliable?

Any general tips (fuel, safety, driving conditions)?

Thanks!!

I’m looking to buy a car with a budget of around LKR 10 million and would appreciate some advice. I initially considered the Toyota Raize, but it’s slightly above my budget. Then I looked into the Toyota Wigo as a more affordable option. I’ve also come across the Nissan Magnite, which fits within my price range, but I’ve heard concerns about its suspension over time. Since there are quite a few options in this segment, I’d love to hear your recommendations for a car that offers good reliability, comfort, and value for money within this budget.

If i were to conduct or organise a book-swap meet up thing and make it a monthly basis are people interested?
Book-swap basically as in each one comes with a book of their liking and gets a chance to talk about it or try and sell the book to others and we all take turns doing it. And then a book stack is made and we pick random number lots and according to the sequence we get to take a book of our liking.
So you pitch a book and later another book home.
If enough people are interested i will consider doing it!!
Give me constructive criticism guys!

Hello, I’m travelling to Sri Lanka on the 1st of June and will be in Colombo for a few days (free from 1-4 June, afterwards more complicated).

I was wondering if there was anyway in joining a group for a football session. Could be 5-a-side all the way to 11-a-side.

I played with a group back in 2019, though I lost the contact of the person I had played with. I believe in the Rajagiriya area but can’t remember.

Have a small tradition where I try to play some football with the locals of every country I travel to and would really like to continue this on my next trip to SL.

Please don’t hesitate to dm me if interested or help point me in the right direction if there are any groups I could potentially join for an evening session.
