Why arent we hearing anything from or about her
Has she finally fell off
Am I the only one who thinks the soccer player saying he made up the story, was actually lying and just saying he made it up because Chappell’s pr team told him too?
Like there’s no reason for a successful, mid aged south American athlete to make up a story about a 27 yo pop star. What could he possibly gain? He’s already famous and rich 😂
And the one day he says that he made the story up. Next thing you know is that, when you search Chappell on tiktok, all of the videos complaining about her are suddenly gone and replaced with people singing her praises.
Like whether or not Chappell was in the right/wrong, this was clearly a PR clean up. But her fans aren’t seeing that. The soccer player was either, bribed, threatened with a lawsuit, or felt guilty for starting this whole drama, and so made a post saying he lied about the incident.
And then Chappell got her team to take down or conceal all of the videos hating on her or calling her out. Because those are so difficult to find now.
I like her music but I just don’t buy into her bs. And it’s annoying that her fans don’t see this as a pr clean up
her fans are so blinded, it’s sad
caption of the video is “hot take i feel like billie is queerbaiter”
The Problem With Chappell Roan (a deep dive)
youtu.be“I did not know Miss Lady Kier stood for all that” story post on standby lmfao
Yesterday, a friend of mine from the US who happens to be a Chappell fan, sent me an instagram reel of a white girl dancing at Pink Pony Club in some kind of bar over a table, which was funny since no one in the video gave two shits about her.
He told me like always, to give her a chance, so I finally listened and paid attention to one of her songs (Pink Pony Club) and since it’s been two months since she was cancelled for what happened in Brazil, I wanted to give another opinion but no in a different angle (this is going to be a large rant).
In this sub we’ve already discussed about Kayleigh's horrible persona, like the fact she’s a closeted republican, how privileged she was, the fact that she’s a culture vulture of the LGBT community and how much of an asshole she’s with everyone around her, but I noticed most of these posts come from the English speaking community, for me (Young dude from Mexico) these things are not my only problem about her but just the tip of the iceberg.
After listening and reading the lyrics of her song I ended up having this nasty culture shock about how performative and attention seeking most of these artists like Chappell in the US are. Chappell disguised Pink Pony Club as a song of liberation and auto discovery of a sexual orientation, however, lyrics like “On the stage in my heels, it's where I belong” or “I'm up and jaws are on the floor
Lovers in the bathroom and a line outside the door” are very clear of how much Chappell is needy for attention.
We all know her statement is “I hate fame” even if it is the thing she seeks the most. In that moment I tried to do a non correlational comparison with a Mexican pop song from the early 2000's (because both are pop, but in a different time and perspective). Belanova's “Arena” had lyrics like this “Day by day another story will be written, and it will be a grain of sand, just another star in this universe I’m spinning with” (it’s already translated).
It was such a cultural shock how different are the perspectives from so-called commercial songs, Chappell's instrumental was loud, noisy, like if it’s yelling at everyone “Look at me!” while Belanova's instrumental and lyrics feels lounge/acid cabaret-ey, like if the sound is suspended in the air, and the narrator is not the center of the universe but instead is contemplating it.
My point here is, American pop performative wave just like Chappell it’s so off-putting, her songs are the mirror of the person she really is, someone who wants to be “relevant”, someone who wants to have always the spotlight, but she’s not able to show vulnerable or honest about she thinks of feels.
Kayleigh's songs feel empty because of all her greed to maintain her numbers up, while the one I compared her song to feels raw somehow. One is intrinsical, it is what is, like the wind or the sunset, is beautiful because it doesn’t need the approval of something or someone, while Roan's is the constant “If I am not seen, or approved and praised by someone else, then I am nothing.”
The worst part of all this shit, is that, even if Chobble is a douchebag and has superficial music, she’s a nice singer and has a good vocal range which is being wasted by her delusions of being a famous and relevant pop star, which is just pathetic.
I really wish music industry had more artists like SZA, the kind of artists who allows themselves to be open and honest with their fans. In the very end, music industry just want to sell, although, is important to have musicians who can produce songs about they have highs and lows, how amazing they could be, but at the same time how human they are.
is it just me? but I havent heard her name be mentioned in weeks, no longer hear her songs on the radio or social media. never see her anywhere and she’s receiving tons of hate, also gone down to #183 on Spotify. What do you think?
Every time someone says this I roll my eyes because around 95% of my Spotify playlists are female artists. I mostly read books by female authors. Most of the people I follow on socials are female creators or LGBTQ+
I reject people from my life if they're not feminist lol
Not liking her has nothing to do with her being a woman and I'm so tired of having to defend that. She's not a good artist and her attitude stinks. I think she's queer baiting, poverty pretending and I think she's just another white fake feminist. I hate that the LGBTQ community blindly worship her as if we are that starved for representation (I know it's not great but there's so many amazing queer indie artists making beautiful art/music that go under the radar) She's literally making Taylor Swift style music in drag.
what the title of the post says. i think that if you're defending someone you're a fan of when something controversial happens or someone says something about them, that isn't inherently wrong, especially if it's something racist or homophobic or etc., but the way they do it is just so… juvenile?
i remember one time, seeing someone who was a fan of her express disappointment about the shows she cancelled in europe (rightfully so!), and most of the fan responses were "she doesn't owe you shit lmao" which outside of being just wrong and rude is so childish i'm sorry 😭 and in this sub i had someone who was likely a fan reply to something i said about her being infantilized with "pfp checks out" like??? WHAT does my pfp have to do with me calling her out lmao. sorry if this seems random, but my point is, she's far from the only artist to have fans who can be/are assholes, but i haven't seen very many others who are so nasty and immature with how they do it. am i the only one who thinks this or…?
My friend who is a therapist shared this on social media. I found it pretty spot on in describing how Chappell/Kayleigh constantly uses therapy talk (incorrectly).
If she wants her life to be more private outside of scheduled events, there are ways to avoid fans and paparazzi. But instead of hiring a security team to handle those details, she creates unhinged videos claiming people are “violating her boundaries”. The irony of this too is that when she claims people are “violating her boundaries” she creates a scene which only extends the duration of the situation she’s claiming is so uncomfortable. Example: Paris Fashion Week - instead of choosing to dine at a secluded location or using the back/side door, she got out of her car, at the main entrance of a popular restaurant that already had paparazzi present and then proceeded to record them and create a spectacle, rather than just ignoring them and going immediately inside. Make it make sense! 🤔
