How on earth can I talk to a real person?

Long story short, I do not have a capital one account, but I've received emails suggesting that I do. I believe either someone mistyped their email as my own, or I may be the victim of identity theft. Obviously, I'm looking to call the company to get this issue sorted out.

Unfortunately, their automated call systems seem remarkably stubborn, and insist that 1: They can handle the issue without a representative, and 2: I need to give them my account information to proceed. That would be fine and dandy, except, of course, I do not possess a capital one account, that's the entire problem.

I'll admit, I'm extremely anxious over the phone and have had trouble trying to brute force it. Is there any surefire way to speak to a human person about this issue? I don't mind having to wait on hold if that's necessary.

Moving from America to UK

Hello. I currently have a bank + a couple credit cards with Capital One. I am planning on moving to Scotland in August, and I'm curious if I need to make new accounts with Capital One UK. Does anyone have some insight into what I should be planning on doing?

What is up with the CapitalOne fraud dept?

I'm a long-standing personal customer of CaptialOne with a BJ's Mastercard. 800+ credit, decent credit line, use it regularly, and have never ever missed a payment by a second (on any account).

Last year a few friends and I started a new company (S-Corp) and managed to turn a profit in our first year. Only $250k, but we are growing and expect to hit $1M in EBITA this year. With the growth in the business, we've rented a physical office in an office building and primarily use it for client meetings and work in the evenings and weekends. (All of us founders still have day jobs for now.)

So, we decided to apply business credit cards to manage our expenses separate from our personal expenses. The application process was quick with CapitalOne and the cards were supposedly shipped to our relatively new office. Unfortunately the cards never showed up. We don't know if they got misdelivered or maybe someone snagged them as the mailroom in the office building is open to all tenants and we just have boxes, but after a couple weeks, it was clear they didn't show up.

Since I was the applicant for the company, I called customer service and explained the situation. No one had tried to activate the cards, so no problem, it happens, they'll ship out new cards with tracking. Sounded good, but I was worried that maybe it would happen again as it's a new office and all, so I asked if I could have the cards shipped to my personal address. The same address in my combined online account that my personal cards and bills have gone to since the very day I opened my personal Capital One card. They said no problem, just change mailing address online and you're good to go.

They went through a verification process by sending a code to my CapitalOne app to ensure I was me before shipping the cards and I thought all was well.

Not so fast.

Later that day I get a text from 227898‬ that CapitalOne normally texts me from stating there is suspicious activity on my account and I need to call 800-955-7070. I don't recognize the number they want me to call back on and a quick Google Search turns up this is a phishing number. I call the number on the back of my personal card and after weaving through the terrible VRU, I finally get to the fraud department. The text is legit and they want to know if I had recently applied for a Spark Business card. I confirmed that I did and they immediately said well we've restricted your account for suspicious behavior and have to verify the account. Ok, let's do it.

The first thing they want to do is send my phone a text and read me a long disclaimer about me agreeing to be texted by CapitalOne for the rest of my relationship with them. I've received 100s of texts from them in the past, so sure, I agree. Oh, they don't like the number. Do I have another number that can receive texts? No, I have a cellphone and any other number I have is a landline. I remember that I have a VOIP number that can receive texts, so I offer that. Nope, VOIP numbers don't work either.

Finally, after being transferred twice and going through the entire "We're going to send a text to your cellphone" failure I demand to speak to someone who can cut through the BS. I finally reach someone who speaks English and even she goes through the attempt to send a message to my phone, but then she moves on to saying that they have to send me a link so I can provide front and back photos of my driver's license. Ok, let's do that.

I get the link and snap the pics while I'm still online with the CSR. She says that it will take 1-10 business days to review, but that should be it.

In the mean time, my online account has been restricted. Not just the Business Spark card, but everything. The original business address has disappeared from my account and I can edit none of my information even for my personal card. A day later I get 4 separate e-mails from CapitalOne confirming that the new cards have been shipped. Yay! I check online and the account is still restricted, but I figure that maybe that will be the case until I actually get the cards and activate them.

Not so fast.

Fast forward to yesterday and I get a voicemail on my phone from 800-955-7070 claiming to be CapitalOne and asking me to call. It never rang as my phone service (T-Mobile) marked it as spam. I'm out to lunch and decide I'll call when I get back home. While at lunch, my 87 year old mother calls and says she got a voicemail (also blocked as spam) for me from CapitalOne. WTAF? I'm in my late 50s and haven't lived at home since the 1980s.

I again call the number on the back of the card and not the spammy number. It's like groundhog day. 40 minutes on the phone with them failing to be able to text my phone and multiple transfers to others that again start over. I finally get frustrated with them and demand to know what the problem is. I've gone through the verification and they've apparently shipped the cards, but there's still some problem? I finally get the 4th CSR to understand that I've already sent over my info and I got the card shipment verification. This finally seems to click and they say if that's so, then give us the case number. I give it to them and Ah Ha! Yes, they have received it and verified my identity. Great, are we done? No, we're not done. Apparently I have to send over copies of my driver's license again.

I ask what the problem is? Can't they see that I've verified my identity? Yes, they see that. Then what is the problem? They need to verify my identity. Why, if you just did a few days ago? Because we have a different case open. Great, what is this case about? We need to verify your identity. (FML, it's like talking to a wall.) Fine, send me the link. Ok, but first we need to send a code to your phone to verify your identity. (JFC)

How do you handle carryon rollers in capital one lounge

I will have a three hours layover in Denver, which gives an opportunity to try the capital one lounge. I am wondering how to handle the carryon roller when I am fetching food, leave it by the seat or take it with me.

Capital One Legal Portal Broken

I’m trying to access the Capital One Legal Portal to open up a case regarding an IRS levy, but all of the “legalportal.capitalone.com” links are broken. I’ve tried through their website, Google search, and through an automated Cap One email that directed me to the site.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Credit line increase advice

Hey everyone! Hope everybody is having a great weekend!

So I been scrolling through Reddit and this sub and I'm seeing people being granted very decent credit line increases. My question is how come my Capital One Quick silver is still only at $700 and my Quick Silver platinum is at $2000 after years of no late payments, under 30% utilization, and an upper mid level 700 score? What are you guys putting in as far as total annual income, how much you will spend with the card, and maximum desired credit line?

I'm extremly careful with all my financial decisions almost to border line obsession. 😅

Any help or advice would be fantastic. I just feel like after 4 or 5 years of it being where my limit is at on both cards I'd hope that by now the lines would have increased. 🤔

Thanks for your time and advice!!

Capital One locked my account after $5k spend, then couldn’t verify me for a week…so I cancelled

Wanted to share my experience in case anyone is considering Capital One.

I opened a Venture card and put about $4k–$5k on it in the first few weeks. No issues at all. Then on 4/11 I get a text saying there’s “suspicious activity” and I need to call. I check the app and the restriction is legit.

I call immediately. Turns out it’s NOT suspicious activity. They just want to verify my identity.

Fine.

They ask for ID + utility bill. I upload both right away.

Then…nothing.

No email. No text. No update in the app. I check every day for a week.

On 4/17 I call back. They tell me my ID wasn’t valid because it didn’t include the full image. This was news to me, since no one reached out. I re-upload while on the phone. Then they say they also need the BACK of the ID. Again, no one had told me this.

I upload that immediately too.

They say they’ll follow up. Ask for my availability for a call.

No call. No update.

Today, I call again and basically say: I just need this reviewed and unlocked. Everything is submitted.

Response: “We understand, but you have to wait.”

No escalation. No internal messaging. No timeline.

I even asked if they could contact the verification team directly (Teams/Slack/etc). Nope.

Called again through a different line. Same result.

At that point I told them: if this is how it works, just cancel the card.

They cancelled it immediately. Cancelling, no problem. Helping, no way.

Capital One Shopping extension not working

Anyone else experience this? I receive emails with special deals (6% off, 11% off, etc.), but when I click the link and go to checkout, the extension remains blank.

I tried clearing my cache, deleting browser data, etc. When I try to open it in another browser, the extension shows up but doesn't have the offer.

Anyone know what could help?

Capital One Credit Balance Refund Business Logic Flaw

Hey all, got bit by what seems to be a business logic flaw in how Capital One processes (and automatically issues) Credit Balance Refunds.

As confirmed by a customer support person, it seems that if one has a credit balance (as in, a positive balance from refunds or making over-payments) at the end of a series of consecutive billing cycles -- regardless of card usage or how the balance fluctuates between those points -- a check will automatically be issued.

In my case despite having ~$600 in pending transactions made in the past few days and a bunch of transactions throughout each of the the previous year+ of billing cycles, a check has been issued to me yesterday for ~$60-some in credit balance.

This seems to be in contrast to Capital One's page Getting Payment Refunds page, so I wrote this up as a blog post here to warn others and share the specifics: https://nuxx.net/blog/2026/04/18/capital-one-credit-balance-refund-business-logic-flaw/

Since when did Cap1 become so generous? Unrequested CLI

This was my first ever card that I opened about 2 years ago and had an initial $200 limit. I've been paying all my cards in full and in-time, this one is particular is in the negatives due to a refund lol. Woke up today and Cap1 gave a $7k CLI, but isn't this kinda unheard of? I just moved to amex as my main cc lender, so they kinda came in clutch.

My credit scores hover between 730-754 if that matters.

Does this mean my credit card has been hacked and someone made an account under my name?

Woke up to this email, not sure what it means haven’t done anything credit related since getting my credit card and getting a credit limit increase last month..

Logistics Question - Mixing AU and Primary Account Holder Rewards

Card Situation:

I am an AU on a Venture X account, an Account Manager on a Savor account, and a primary cardholder on a Venture rewards account. (Working towards a C1 duo in my own name)

Savor and Venture are my (and P2’s) cards and are informally pooling rewards, VX is a parent and keeps their own rewards.

I am looking for insights on how the rewards (miles, cash-back and converting between) work for me as I earn across these 3 different cards.

When I book travel through C1, do I get 5x on flights?

Would I have to use the VX to pay in order to get these rewards?

Do the miles generated from my use of the VX go into my own mile pool or that of the primary account holder?

As an account manager am I able to convert the Savor cash-back to miles in my (and P2’s) shared pool?

TLDR in essence I am looking to maximize rewards when booking through C1 travel until I can get my own VX, trying to see logistics on rewards allocation, and potentially earning the 5x on flights while actually paying with a different card and getting the miles myself.

Thank you (apologies for confusion)

Can anyone help me find a bank to withdrawal money?

I'm looking on the app and all it shows are atm machines. I'm looking to withdrawal around 5-8k which I don't think is possible at an atm. Any advice on how to do this?

Venture Cancellation Policy

Approaching the 30 day mark when the annual fees was posted. Does C1 refund the annual fees if the card is cancelled with 30 days similar to other companies? Reading mixed reviews about it. And apart from cancellation, the only other option is to downgrade to Savor One? Got the VentureX so don’t want to keep both cards. TIA.
