From Ioniq 5 to Optiq?
Hey all!
My Ioniq 5 lease is about to end. I very much like the car and was intending to buy one or lease another, but my car broker offered me a really good lease deal on the Optiq, so I'm checking it out.
The primary thing I think I'll miss on the Ioniq is the fast charging. I regularly arrive at a station with non-Hyundai/Kias charging and leave before theyre done. Its pretty great...love to hear anyones thoughts about other pros and cons I may experience if I make the shift.
Thanks!
New to the club
Upgraded from the equinox today.. I’m shocked by how different these two are despite sharing the same platform and size. Supercruise is nice! Very good deal as well! Got $8K off MSRP in Toronto and 0% financing
Enjoyed EQEV for the most part except for the drive chain and some design issues (for winter specific). FWD also just doesn’t work in remote Ontario/for a skier unless you are completely driving in the metro area. It also lacked basic features such as rain sensor windshield wiper, which annoyed me a lot. It did a great job introducing me into the GM EV family tho. (Used to only own EU and hated GM :O)
Love the new Optiq. It’s such a beautiful car!!
Turn Signal | Camera View - Automatic - 2025 Sport 2
Good afternoon!
Quick question of capability. Coming from a Tesla, I'm used to the camera view coming up automatically when I use my turn signal, which allows me to see if any cars are coming or in my way. With all the camera views on the Optiq, is there a comparable setting that I am missing?
Thank you in advance!
Looking to Buy a Cadillac Optiq in Ontario — What Deals Are People Getting?
Looking to buy a Cadillac Optiq in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and wanted to see what kind of deals people are currently getting from dealerships.
Has anyone recently purchased or leased one? Curious about:
- Discounts off MSRP
- Lease/finance rates
- Dealer add-ons to avoid
- Which GTA dealers were easiest to negotiate with
- Any hidden fees or tricks to watch for
- Real-world feedback on the Optiq after driving it for a while
Also, anything specific I should be asking about before signing? (battery warranty, charging credits, winter range, maintenance packages, etc)
Thanks!
Amazon Music - Atmos support removed?
It seems after the most recent update they have removed Dolby Atmos support (all mention of lossless audio or Atmos has gone from the app settings only to be replaced by a single "high quality audio" toggle)
Anyone else seen this?
This will be my first EV, and I found nimbus metallic optiq with the blue leather interior that I absolutely love.
However, I live in a condo and I was just told by the HOA that our building cannot handle a level two charger, that the buildings output is only about 70 W. I have been trying to understand all of the concepts of charging and honestly it’s a little overwhelming.
I work 7 miles away, and only three days a week. Otherwise i travel pretty locally in town, and rarely actually go out of town or take long drives.
If I utilize SCE’s time of use hours, can I realistically get away with only using a level one charger?
Even if I have to charge at a different charger every once in a while, I’m OK with, but I do prefer the convenience of simply charging at home.
25 optiq. We feel every little crack and bump in the road. Zero shock absorption.
Dealer inspected and said nothing was wrong. They test drove it as well and said it's normal. Any suggestions on thoughts.
My civic had a more comfortable ride and smoother than this.
Sentry mode
Is there an option to use the exterior camera as dash cam like Tesla ? I'm picking up my new car tomorrow. Thanks
Any way to open the glove box without the car being on?
That’s pretty much it. Since the glove box release is unfortunately buried on the screen menu, I was curious if there was any way to access it without turning on the car?
Long story short: my 2023 KIA Sportage EX Hybrid lease was coming up. It was a great daily driver and fit my family's needs but with CA gas pricing out of control, I was open to an EV. Came down to the Optiq, Equinox EV and Model Y. Test drove the Cadillac first. Loved the smooth ride, quiet cabin and refinement. Didn't want to like to the Equinox so I could narrow down the list but I really liked it and would've considered but the numbers from the dealer didn't make sense. If you're in SoCal, everyone has a Model Y, so ultimately skipped it. It's been a month so far and so far no regrets!
This might be the most hilarious glitch I’ve encountered in a car .
Inexplicably , my infotainment system displays the info for Africa by Toto , regardless of what I’m listening to. If I use the split screen (Google Maps and Spotify), it shows the right info, but when I go back to the audio app, it’s right back to Toto. This has been going on for days.
I brought my Optiq in a couple months back because the brakes on this vehicle are so loud it's embarrassing. If I so much as touch the brake pedal at a low speed, the squealing that they make is brutal. The dealership tried saying "ceramic brakes are loud" and played it off like it's normal. I've installed ceramic pads on 4 of my last vehicles, and never did I have this issue with completely dry brakes.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just GM using the cheapest pads possible?
Interesting result, but I find this kind of “real world” range test to not be relevant to an EV, and I think it’s silly Edmund’s believes it is superior methodology.
The 60% city/40% highway is probably real world type driving, but very few people care what their EV range is driving normally around the city when you are just going to charge at home. People want to know how far you can go on a highway roadtrip before having to DC fast charge.
I’d like to see more 70 mph highway range tests in various weather conditions - not “normal” drive tests that measure range when I will be charging “normally” at home overnight.
25 Optiq sport, recently stopped at an EVGo fast charger capable of 350kw. Set the charger destination in nav and the car said preconditioning battery about 15 minutes before arrival. Ambient temp about 50F. Car was at 58% battery and started charging at 70kw and stayed there as if pegged or limited. After about 5 minutes it drifted down to 60kw and stayed there to 80% charge.
70kw seemed pretty slow for a DC fast charger with no other cars charging and 50F temp. Not sure what else would limit charge rate that much. 58% charge level at start doesn't seem too high. Anyone else seen something similar?
So, I took delivery of a Sport Premium this week, coming from a Polestar 2 Performance Launch Edition.
My first impressions are:
Interior build quality is so-so. Doesn't *look* bad ( aside from all the chrome and piano black) but surely doesn't inspire long-term confidence. LOTS of flexing and creaks around the cup holder area.
The infotainment screen is snappy, and has a lot of nice features, but the CONSTANT pop up reminders and bongs are too much. I don't need a pop-up notification to tell me the e-brake is engaged RIGHT NEXT to the parking brake light. I can see both. I don't need the car to tell me my blinker is on for too long, I have eyes and ears. I don't need a pop-up reminder that I selected the memory seat position. I pressed the button and *noticed* the seat moving in response.
The drive is *almost* ideal, it just needed a bit lower, a bit firmer springs, a bit thicker rear sway bar, and a bit more aggressive throttle map. Maybe once the lease ends, I might try and find an used V, although I really dislike its blue interior accents...
Overall, it's a competent car, and the lease pricing coupled with the aggressive discounts here in Canada make it far more tolerable (I'm paying less than half monthly than I did the P2)
Cadillac could have a perfect premium "compact" SUV if they just addressed those areas. And most of them would be cheap to implement.
I'll dearly miss the Polestar, but I can't stand the service in the only shop in the area where I live, so, before I move out, I won't have another one.
But I can clearly see the Optiq becoming a nice used platform to tinker around in the future. I only hope GM doesn't mess this one up, and leverage their service network against the upcoming deluge of other Chinese brands.
I've got a '26 Optiq that I picked up in March 2026. I've seen the posts here about people asking for the Android 14 upgrade, and seeing features like the interior cabin camera view. I checked and I already have Android 14, but do not have the cabin camera view. Looking forward to Apple Music as well - does anyone have that yet?
We have a sport 2 2025, that has been a head ache. The latest issue to develop this week is the rear view mirror display going solid blue, then later correcting.
Has anyone dealt with this, and if so do you have any details on the issue that you can share?
I'm recovering from surgery so I can't get the vehicle back into the dealer at this point, but I plan to.
Would you call the leasing department if you have not had your vehicle in 4 months due to an accident no fault of yours?
