Massage or chiropractor for pain?

Female Age 66 165 lbs 5’6”

I have spent past hour reading posts. Not encouraging, but it is what it is. I was diagnosed with dual hip bursitis a couple of years ago. I’ve done multi rounds of PT sessions (regularly reupping when insurance runs out). Although anything to strengthen core is good, the exercises haven’t really helped with the issue. I’ll admit, I tend to power through pain, but I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t do it anymore.

I was just on an 6 week journey that involved lots of hiking and walking. Ice was not available and getting a hold of Ibuprofen was tricky. Well now I’m really cooked. I blame myself.

Has anyone tried working with a chiropractor to help align hips? I don’t even know if there is such a method. I also don’t know how to go about finding a practitioner.

How about massage? I know it needs to avoid the bursa, so I’m guessing it’s some sort of specialty.

I don’t think mine will ever go away! I have it in both hips so sleeping hurts, sitting on hard surfaces hurt, positions that widen the hips hurt, can’t do exercises that focus on switching sides as leaning on any one side hurts and even doing clams hurt. I’ve tried sleeping with pillows under hips, knees, feet but nothing works. I can’t take pain killers since they aggravate my reflux and I don’t want injections. Any other suggestions welcomed!

I was so grateful to see an actual doctor and get some testing done and some prescriptions. prednisone for 5 days and 2mg valium 2x a day for about two weeks.

I see a very knowledgeable PT right now, but the scheduling has been weird so I don’t see her for another month. she gave me some great tips for standing ergonomics and tools to reduce pain, but i feel like i’m missing something.

it’s gotten pretty bad this week, but it’s still very fresh (only about two and a half weeks of significant pain so far) and i’m icing 4 times a day. it now radiates into my thigh, causes my glute to spasm and the whole right side of my back/torso spasmed for hours last night.

i also have stage 3 endo and protruding L5/S1 (getting second mri this month), so i’m pretty familiar with chronic pain management tools. however, majority of my tools have barely made a dent in this pain.

are there things I should totally avoid doing? I’m scared to under do it bc i’m worried it’s exacerbated from sitting/laying too much too.

Feel like I’m losing hope for any permanent resolve here..23F active my entire life, have danced professionally and a runner so lots of impact my body is used to relatively my whole life. Trained for my first marathon last year (NYC) and back in September 25 started experiencing pain on impact to the point where i could not walk. Tried cortisone shots and time off and PT and ultimately had to defer as I couldn’t even run a mile without pain. 2 hip MRIs and a back MRI later and it is confirmed bursitis / GTPS on my left side. Have been extremely consistent with PT and time off running now easing back in, and still lingering in the 80% area. Have started shockwave therapy as well but not feeling any help there yet. I’m still only able to do run walk programs and if i even go slightly over what my hip can handle pain comes back for at least a few days. Feel like at this point i have to accept I can’t run a marathon but I am so determined!!
