r/BoostMobile

I used up all of my high speed data on my monthly plan. I used up my data packs and boost won't sell me anymore packs and won't let me restart my monthly plan. So what am I supposed to do? This capped speed is useless and I still have two weeks left until plan restarts.

There has to be a better way than this. There just has to be. I still have two weeks left until my plan restarts and I can't do anything with this slow speed. They don't even want to take my money

Free Service for 12 Months

So I recently received an email from my bank, Chime telling me that I can get free service for 12 months. Basically, because I have direct deposit and I will be using my Chime card to pay my bill $25/month, Chime will credit me back the $25 each month.
I took the deal and added a second line to my phone. My main service is T-mobile, but at work we have FirstNet by AT&T signal boosters in our building and our speeds are blazing fast🔥
I get a better data speeds on Boost Mobile and I love free things!!!!

eSIM works on locked phones

So I purchased a phone from AT&T and it says it is SIM locked. When I put my Boost Mobile phone next to it it let me bring my number over to the AT&T locked phone. I had already checked compatibility on the boost website and it said the phone was locked and not compatible with boost, but I had no issues bringing it right over and downloading an eSIM. Phone still says sim locked in settings. Just using my boost plan under 2nd imei. I’m confused.
Am I gonna wake up and my phone doesn’t work anymore

Mini Me add-on charges added to my account without permission

Posting this again because it was removed for some reason...?

Just got a text that Mini Me Games and Mini Me Video were added to my service. I logged into my account, and sure enough, two add-ons were added to my bill for an extra $10 a month. I have no use for these add-ons, and nobody has access to my account to add them without my knowledge or permission.

I chatted with an agent on the website, and they told me, "Mini Me Games and Mini Me Video are airG third-party services that use the phone number as the login credential. These services are free at sign-up, but charges begin on the next billing cycle after enrollment. If you didn't knowingly sign up, you may have accidentally enrolled through a promotional link or ad. you may have clicked on a promotional link, ad, or pop-up that enrolled them without realizing it."

It's ridiculous that two separate add-ons can be added to my bill with an accidental click (if that's what really happened).

Check your accounts, people!

Edit:

Update – the add-ons were still listed as "active recurring add-ons" after I removed them, so I chatted with a different agent. This one said, "This is a VAS charge. It means Boost provided it for free for a trial and if you wish to continue it, you can keep it up or remove it on the due bill. But since it has been removed, it will not be added on your next billing cycle."

Total BS. Don't add something to my bill without my knowledge and make me manually remove it. I've been very happy with my Boost Mobile account for 10+ years, but if this happens again, I'm cancelling my account. Don't mess with my money.

I’ve been trying to port out of Boost to US Mobile for over 24 hours, but it seems like Boost doesn’t want me to. I asked to port out my number yesterday because I have been getting bad service at my work and other parts around town. I called in to talk to a rep and she told me instead of transferring out she knows a way to get better service and told me she would send me a new sim and I will get better service. I tried that and it didn’t change anything so I called again later that night and spoke to another rep and they offered to reduce my bill by 50% and I declined and told them I wanted my port out pin. The rep told me that he sent the port pin to my texts, it never came. I waited an hour on the phone with him and never got a text. I called in again after work and they once again told me they were sending me my port pin to text and I was on hold another hour and still didn’t receive a pin. They told me to turn off my phone and turn it back on and call them back. I told them that doesn’t make sense because I’m getting the verification code texts instantly when I call into talk to a human, nevertheless I did that and called them back. This time I asked for the port department and I was on hold for 35 more minutes without anyone coming on the line, I hung up. I did receive a “referral friends” texts after I hung up, but never my port pin. I guess I’m going to have to file a grievance with the FCC to get it, I guess. I’ve never had such a bad experience with any cellular company as I have had with Boost. I have 18 days left on the plan, but I already signed up with US mobile yesterday so this is very frustrating. Has anyone ever ran into this problem before?

I recently lost my phone in a swamp and a kind stranger on my community's facebook buy nothing group gave me his old phone. Unfortunately it is locked and I need it unlocked as soon as I can because I need to get some verification codes on sms. The man is older and doesn't know how to help me and I feel bad for texting him too much. Is there a way to unlock it on my own? Do I need his number and all those information so Boost can unlock it for me? I don't think he'd be comfortable giving me his number and stuff. Should I just give him his phone back?

Scam Call 888-651-6700

Just got a call from the number 18886516700. It was an automated voice telling me they were from the security team, and that a line was being open, and to press 1 if it was unauthorized. Then it sent me a text message from the official boost mobile number where I always receive text messages with 6 digit codes. I went to the boost mobile website and got the contact number for customer service and verified my account was secure. Beware!

*edit- The text message wasn't them texting me but more likely they were trying to log into my account and needing the code Boost would send.

Wondering if anyone knows if the cameras feed directly to the corporate office, and if so, how long is the video stored? Asking because I’m pretty sure I got overcharged and the employee pocketed the money. I’m asking this question here first because video would be the most solid evidence I can use when I call the customer hotline to see if this guy needs to be fired. Any help is greatly appreciated!

We’ve noticed the community asking for more flexible ways to grab the latest tech without having to drop a lot of money all at once. Financing can be a headache, so I wanted to share the blueprint on how our new partnership with Affirm actually works.

The goal here is simple: you order your phone today, but pay for it in fixed monthly slices. No hidden "gotchas," just a straightforward way to get your device affordably.

The Blueprint: How it Works

If you’re looking to upgrade or join the community, here is what you need to know:

  • What it covers: Affirm pays for your entire initial "cart." That includes the device and your first month’s plan payment.
  • The Minimum: Your cart just needs to be at least $50 and include an eligible device.
  • Plan Eligibility: All plans except the Infinite Access, watch and tablet plans are eligible.
  • Payments: You'll manage your device payments directly through the Affirm app or website. Your monthly Boost service plan is still handled through your normal Boost account.

Insider Tip: If you get interrupted during checkout, the Affirm pre-authorization only lasts 24 hours. If you wait longer than that, you'll need to re-apply, so try to have your info ready when you start!

Quick FAQ

What exactly is Affirm? It’s a "Buy Now, Pay Later" service. It lets you spread the cost of your phone over fixed monthly installments instead of paying everything upfront.

Will this hurt my credit score? Checking your eligibility is just a "soft pull," so it won't affect your credit score. If you move forward with a loan, your repayment history may be reported, which is standard.

Are there hidden fees? No. One of the reasons we’re excited about this is that Affirm doesn't charge late fees, service fees, or prepayment penalties. You’ll see the exact interest (0-36% APR) before you commit.

Can I use Affirm for Autopay? No. Affirm is for the one-time purchase of the device and initial plan. You’ll still need to provide a credit card for your recurring Autopay to keep your service active.

What if I need to return the phone? No stress—it follows our standard return process. Once the return is processed, the funds are sent back to Affirm to close out your loan.

We hope the community is as excited for this as we are! I’m here if you have any questions, either drop them below or send me a chat.

Adding a cellular tablet isn't complicated, but there are a few steps that differ from a standard phone setup. To ensure it's smooth sailing from checkout to connection, here is the official guide for activating your iPad, Galaxy Tab, or Celero5G TAB on the Boost network.

Plan Requirements & Financial "Need-to-Knows"

The Tablet Plan is a $20/mo add-on for existing Boost Mobile voice customers. Simple enough—but a few things are worth knowing upfront to avoid billing surprises.

  • Active Phone Line Required: All tablet plans (iPad and Android) require an active phone line on your account at the time of purchase and activation to receive the discounted rate of $20/mo. If that phone line is later canceled, the tablet plan automatically increases to the standalone rate of $65/mo.
  • The "$25 Plan" Trap: Do not accidentally select the standard $25/mo smartphone plan for your tablet. You are looking specifically for "Tablet 30 GB Unlimited Data."
  • Data: You get unlimited data (US only) with 30GB of Premium High-Speed Data. After that, speeds are reduced. Streaming is capped at Standard Definition (480p).

>One-Way Street: Converting an existing phone line into a tablet line is a permanent change. It generally cannot be converted back to a phone line later. Do not "test" this with a number you care about.

  • Account Type Conversion (BNPL): If you are currently on a "No Contract" (prepaid) account, adding a tablet plan will automatically migrate you to a Buy Now, Pay Later (postpaid-style) account.
  • Mandatory AutoPay: You must keep AutoPay active to stay on this plan.
  • The 15-Day Rule: Your payment due date will shift to exactly 15 days after your billing cycle begins.
  • Domestic Only: Unlike many phone plans, these tablet plans are strictly US-only. High-speed data does not currently roam in Mexico or Canada.

>Finance Agreement: If you're financing a tablet on a 36-month term and cancel early, any remaining bill credits are forfeited and the full outstanding balance of the device becomes due immediately.

Compatibility & Pre-Activation Checklist

Before you spend any money, make sure your tablet can actually talk to the network.

  • Check Your IMEI: Use the official Boost Mobile Compatibility Checker to verify your specific model.
  • Carrier Unlock: Your tablet must be fully network unlocked by your previous carrier. Boost cannot unlock a device owned by another carrier.
  • iPad Software: To ensure the eSIM provisions correctly, your iPad must be running iPadOS 17.4 or later. All new iPads require an OS update during activation, so your device must be connected to Wi-Fi and updated before you begin.
  • Wi-Fi for Activation: A Wi-Fi connection is required to complete eSIM activation on all eSIM-capable devices, including Android tablets not purchased from Boost Mobile. A connection speed of 10 Mbps or higher is recommended. Public Wi-Fi, mobile hotspots, or weak connections may cause delays or activation failures.

>30-Day Activation Clock: If you purchase a tablet directly from Boost, you must activate it within 30 days. Failing to do so can trigger a charge for the full retail price of the device on your card.

  • eSIM Check: Ensure your device is on the Official Supported Devices List. This covers the 2026 lineup, including the iPad (10th Gen+), Galaxy Tab A11+/S10 FE, and the Celero5G TAB.

Step-by-Step Activation Flow

You can activate your tablet using either the Boost Mobile App or a web browser.

  • Using the App: Go to Settings -> Device Setup -> Activate -> Yes! Activate With eSIM.
  • Using the Web: Under My Lines, click Activate. On the Device Setup page, choose your tablet and click Set Up.

eSIM Installation: Once the setup is complete, connect to strong Wi-Fi.

  • iPad: You'll see a notification: "Boost Cellular Plan Ready." Tap it to install. If you miss it, go to Settings -> Cellular Data -> Boost Plan -> Continue.
  • Android: Ensure you have the Boost Config App installed. Then go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager > Add mobile plan.

Shipping & Trade-Ins

If your deal involves a trade-in, pay close attention to the logistics to ensure you get your credits.

>"Find My" / Activation Lock Warning: You MUST disable Find My (iPad) or Activation Lock (Android) before mailing your device. If it arrives at the warehouse locked, you will receive a 14-day notice to fix this remotely. If it is not resolved within that window, your trade-in will be rejected.

  • The 30-Day Window: You have exactly 30 days from the date your new tablet ships to get your trade-in device back to the warehouse. If it arrives after 60 days, your credit is permanently forfeited and the device will not be returned.
  • Condition Matters:
    • Lower Condition (any damage or wear): Trade-in still processes, but your credit will be reduced.
    • Mandatory Rejections (trade-in cancelled): Applies if the device does not power on, is received after 60 days, or has Find My/Activation Lock still active after the 14-day notice window.
  • Forfeiture — Device Not Returned:
    • If your device is registered as Lost or Stolen, the credit is forfeited and the device will not be returned.
    • If an empty box is received at the warehouse, the credit is forfeited and no device will be returned.

FAQ

Q: Can I make calls or send texts from my tablet line?

A: No. Tablet plans are Data-Only. You cannot place traditional cellular calls or send "green bubble" SMS texts on their own. However, when paired with an iPhone or Android phone on the same account, some calling and texting features may be available. You can also use data-based apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, or Telegram at any time. (iPad users can still use iMessage/FaceTime; Android users can use Google Meet/Messages.)

Q: Is Mobile Hotspot included?

A: No. Hotspot is a $10/mo add-on. Note that hotspot usage draws from your 30GB premium data allotment.

Q: What happens if I send in a damaged tablet for trade-in?

A: Any damage or wear will place your device in a lower condition tier, which reduces your final credit amount but does not automatically cancel the trade-in. The only reasons a trade-in is mandatory rejected are if the device does not power on, arrives after 60 days, or has Find My/Activation Lock still active after the 14-day notice window. Note: if your device is flagged as Lost or Stolen or an empty box is received, the credit is forfeited and the device will not be returned.

Q: Can I return my tablet to a Boost Mobile store?

A: Only if you bought it at that exact store location. If you purchased online or through an agent, you must initiate the return through Customer Care and mail it back.

Q: My tablet says "No Service" after activation?

A: Start with a restart. If that fails, perform a Network Reset (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset Network Settings). Android users: ensure the Boost Config App has been opened at least once to provision your APN settings.

Q: Why did I receive two trade-in boxes?

A: This sometimes happens with the automated kit system. Use the one that fits your tablet best and recycle the other.

This is a constant issue. I have tried several times to contact Boost but no one seems to have a good answer. Imei is good. Phone is good. Tower strength is great. I just lose service at least once a day and it can take up to 15 to get it back.

What exactly am I supposed to do? I have a Samsung S23 Ultra which I have owned since it was brand new 3 years ago. Originally it was on Xfinity Mobile, then Boost for about a year. Yesterday it was blacklisted and Boost claims they can not remove the blacklist, but also can not tell who blacklisted it. I attempted to contact Xfinity Mobile, who simply went in stupid circles saying the device was unlocked years ago

I just got an email congratulating me on my new Boost Mobile account. User name is my firstlast name. The email is firstlast@gmail.com. The problem is that I don’t have a Boost Mobile account. I’ve had my Gmail account since it was first introduced. I use first.last@gmail.com. I can’t figure it out. I can request a password change since it will go to my email, but I don’t know how to handle it. I am conojust going to the local retailer and seeing if they can give me the number so I can call it.

Well this has happened again. And now my plans monthly fee is up $11. I have a phone and tablet.both unlimited. My phones premium data is 60gb with a 12gb premium hot spot. My tablet is 30gbs of premium data. I have text and calling on my phone. I had to call customer service becu z once again, the day after I pay my bill, my phones internet access is extremely slow and hotspot is so slow I cant even connect other devices. My tablet also wouldn't connect without wifi. Customer service rep argued that my phone and tablet have no data when the premium is used up. I had to correct him. Ive had my account for so many yrs that im grandfathered in. My bill jumped up a total of $73 within 6 month time. Within the last 3 months I have had network issues. Its really bad. And after the first time they had to fix my network issue, they keep bumping my bill up. I also now have to pay $20 instead of $10 for payment extentions. I pay my bill ahead of time but sometimes I have to payment extend due to my paychecks. I am never late on my bill.
