Need help with matted hair

Need advice on what to do now and how to prevent from happening again.

Is this too much breakage/sheding for the amount of hair I have

I only detangle my hair once a week on wash day and wondering if this is too much and will impede growth. I always wet my hair and grab a clump oh hair then work from ends to root

Cornrow

This is my first time trying cornrows. The braid is not turning out as neat as I would like. Any tips?

Any tips for dyeing my freeforms?

I would like to dye my hair without damaging them or bleaching them, I was thinking of a colored shampoo or a similar product, something not too invasive and that, preferably, can be done at home.

I'd like to make them dark green, dark blue, or light brown.

Thank you

Twits help - follow up

This is like the second post I’ve made on this but essentially my twists don’t look the same anymore. They don’t fluff up anymore and just kinda stay thin, they don’t look as aesthetic as they used to. Mind you I’ve had the same stylist for last 4 years so idk if my hair health has changed e.g loss of density or she’s changed her technique. Either way I’m contemplating a big chop and restarting hoping that will fix it. But before, I thought I’d come here and ask for more advice

Braids to prom

Hi, I'm just doing research on what to wear to my senior prom. I have mostly just seen wigs or silk presses. I think doing braids would be lovely and I can wear them during the holiday. They also lower my budget.

Just wondering if it would be acceptable to wear braids to my senior prom?

What is this haircut, please?

I have no idea what this haircut is called, so I can't look it up online and see what it looks like on other guys.

Thanks.

Am I wrong for thinking about a relaxer for my 10 year old

Y’all, I feel so defeated right now. My daughter is 10 and her hair is so tightly coiled that it’s extremely difficult to manage. I’m constantly using water, oils, leave in conditioner, deep conditioner, grease, and nothing seems to help.

The only way I can even wash her hair is by sectioning it off into small parts as gently as possible, which still hurts her. I detangle each section with a brush and a wide tooth comb, then braid it. I have to repeat that process all over her head just to get through it. After that, I take each braid down one by one and blow dry it. The whole process takes about 6 to 8 hours.

She’s had about five silk presses from three different natural hair professionals, and honestly, it’s painful to watch what she goes through just to get from the wash to the blow drying stage. She’s so shy that she won’t say anything herself, but she’ll text me that it hurts and ask me to do something. And the worst part is the silk press only lasts one day. After a few hours it starts reverting, and by the next day it’s frizzy and puffy, so she ends up putting it in a ponytail anyway.

My 12 year old was told she has 4C hair, but it doesn’t even feel like it because it’s so much easier to manage. I can detangle it without much trouble, and a silk press lasts over a month on her.

I feel like I’m at a crossroads and don’t know what to do. My younger daughter really wants to wear her hair down, so we’ve been doing box braids. Honestly, the easiest method right now is taking down the braids, washing, detangling, and then blow drying it again section by section.

And even after I finish blow drying her whole head, it starts to curl back up, so I have to keep going over sections again just to get through it.

At this point, my mom thinks I should just use a straightener on her hair, and I hate to say it, but I’m starting to agree.

Has anyone dealt with this type of hair texture before?

Give it to me straight, how bad is it?

Recently buzzed my fro because I had so much breakage that my hair just always looked like a mess no matter what I did and I decided to start over. Been trying to grow my hair back out and it looks just as bad as last time, if not worse. It definitely didn't help that I was wearing a beanie every day in the winter and using a cotton pillowcase and pretty much neglecting my hair until recently. Basically it's my fault and I know where I went wrong but idk what to do from here. Should I just buzz it all again? I'd really rather not if I don't have to but idk what else to do and it's stressing me out because I don't even wanna go outside with my hair looking like a coked-out bird's nest. Somebody help me pls 😭🙏

How to prep hairline for cornrows (to get something like this)

This is a little urgent post but I’m getting cornrows tomorrow and I really don’t wanna get a no taper since it doesn’t look good on me. But I also don’t have a front taper established(?) and don’t know how to keep my hairline at the same time getting cornrows.

Corners of hairline hurts when touching it

A bit random, but exactly what title says

I'm also young if that means anything
