BB cup and cone might be seized. how bad can bad can this maybe be?

So 36 mm wrench and pin span couldn't turn either.
All other parts were VERY VERY easy to remove, crank arms, ring, bolt nuts etc.
I sprayed W-D40 into top bottom left right teeth, banged on it in all directions with socket wrench to ding it up to try and loosen it.

And it seems REALLY REALLY locked in. not a movement with so much pressure, the pin spammer was bending, so can only go so hard with it, and tons of my weight on the 36 mm wrench.

How bad can this be? (Is the frame toast if I lose the cup and cones, bearings over time?)
Is there ways to get these out? like machine them out with metal cutting, how expensive?

Or is this just maybe locked up hard and needs just a little more pressure, like hammer on the 36mm wrench just to edge it? Just that little bit to get the rotation started? (smack a hammer on the 36mm wrench)

Worried this will end the frame after the cup and cone and or bearings go over time.
The crank arms are showing a LITTLE play, not a lot, but I just discovered this play and wanted to lube and tighten, then discovered this issue.

Let me know what you think, options etc.

Thank you.

middle of presta valve shot out

Was going to pump my bike, and one of the valves wouldnt take air. Screwed the top completely off to see what was up, and as soon as I touched the tip of the valve it blew off, emptying the tyre.

Tried to press/rotate it in, but theres no tread or anything. Is it possible to stick it back on? or do I have to replace the entire inner tubing?

Spokes back in the rim, what to use?

So lets have experience/knowledge sharing about what works best with wheel building lubricates/locking spokes and nubs.

I read you can use White grease, oil, purple lockite, and Boiled Linseed Oil.

My goal is to make nubs easy to turn for putting the spokes back, then to lock up so they don't vibrate lose over time riding. but obviously not tight where they are hard to turn to tru again if there is an issue moving forward.

What is not only going to do that, but is also simple?

Is purple lockite the best, seems the simplest, you buy spread, build and it stiffens and your GTG for a good while???
Oil grease stay slippery, and Boiled Linseed Oil takes lots of unnecessary work and dangerous from the flammable issues with rags. Where purple lockite has no overhead.
Lockite I can do in my room if I wanted, Boiled Linseed Oil needs a garage with fresh air and boiling apparatus.

And maybe use oil with Q-tip on the nubs to rims so they are easy to start off and the oil will evaporate pretty fast, like on a few rides? this with the main option also?

What you say?

Need help adjusting brakes after raising handlebars

I raised my handles bars on a new bike I got and now the brake cable is too tight so it’s causing a rubbing sound on my front tire. I ended up loosing the break cable a little bit but then the brake doesn’t work. I tried to get in between the two but am not able to fix it. could their be another under lying issue with my bike after raising the handle bars? am I doing something wrong?

This makes zero sense.

I purchased this bike from amazon. The wheel hits the pedal and makes turning physically impossible. Did I build it wrong? Did they send wrong parts? I am new to this so I don’t know what to do!

Solved: they shipped it with the fork backwards. Thanks y’all!

Diagnosing noise on specialised status 160.

Any ideas what this noise is coming from rear wheel? The hub is tight no wobble on the rear wheel, don’t think it’s coming from the bottom bracket, it seems to be random when it comes on and goes away?

Hello, I'm a newbie biker. this is my cousin's bike that has been sat on their garage for like 3-5 years since the owner died, nobody uses it anymore, so I asked if I could borrow it for rides and stuff. I used it the next day and it was all good and nice, but suddenly the chain got stuck while I was riding, then I saw my rear derailleur hanger is what I think is broken, and it won't pedal. Can someone tell me how do I fix this or tell me what the problem is?

Lets see if we can fix this back wheel or not (THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT TEST)

So I had an accident and the wheel was warped, a bike mechanic got it tru with muscle leverage.
I has a two dips (in the tape markers, Yellow and red) they are 1 to 2 mm dips.
They are smooth dips from 1 to 2 mm.

(((And I can't ride it like this as others say, I can feel these bumps when riding moderately, so these dips have to come out for these to be usable. already rid on it and those bumps are annoying. The two dips like this make that small normal section a bump essentially.

So I read a lot saying the tire is toast cause you can't tension spokes etc.

BUT... someone linked me a Sheldon Brown page where they show how you can take a dip out of a tire...
https://sheldonbrown.com/on-road-wheel-repairs.html
(A rim has a flat spot or is dented inward)

I want to see if I can get these two dips out with all your help and I'll tru it up and do a tension meter test and report back.

Who wants to do this experiment with me?

Here is the wheel, those are the areas of the dip, what is this next approach here?

Do you I do Sheldon Browns technique?
Do you think tensioning the all the green areas pops the dips out?

Ultimately is this a loss cause and unsafe? or doable under this condition of a 1 to 2 mm dips in those locations?

Thank you.

Again this is an experiment and not to ride on unless I get a consensus this will work and I'm GTG.

Can i somehow shift the brake more to the right because its scraping my disc?

This is a ozark trail fs2. Everything is fine except the front brake. I sometimes adjust it to be fine but the wheel always shifts. I figure it must be because its loose but when its maximum tightness it is always touching the brake like in the picture no matter what. So ive tried doing the brake thing where you loosen the bottom brake thing and pull that cord thing but that only changes the position of the other side brake(im not too sure what the parts are called because im teaching myself how to work on bikes for the first time). Im taking guess that the break is too far left so i need to shift it slightly to the right more? I dont think its a bent disc issue as ive spun it and it looks pretty flat and good.

New Chain Issue

Hi everyone

Before I get started, I’m very new to bikes and repairing them, so if my terminology is slightly off or my descriptions make no sense, I apologize and please let me know.

I decided today that I was going to put on a new chain on my 1989 Miyata 112.
I have done very little bike repair, and I haven’t done any thing myself without the help of a family friend who used to race bikes in the 1980s.
I wanted to do the chain myself, but ran into a bit of an issue afterwards.
I followed the Park Tool videos online, resized the chain without an original to match it to and ran into these issues:

  1. The chain, when on the larger chain ring and on the highest cog in the back, does not fully engage with the rear derailleur and thus doesn’t spin the wheel.
  2. When the chain is on the lowest chain ring, and on the lowest cog, has an insane amount of slack.

I would really like to finish this project myself if possible. It’s nothing against a bike shop, I just want to do it myself if I can.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello,

Recently I bought a very cheap mountain bike. I want to clean and repair it so I can ride it.

Started with some basic cleaning and escalated a bit..

Took off the chain to clean it properly.

Changed the outer and inner tires.

Took off the cassette and cleaned it.

Changed the bearing balls of the rear wheel because the wheel was wobbling from the axle.

Dismantled the derailleur to clean it.

  1. Now the rear wheel doesn't spin for long on its own. I look up closely and it does not touch the frame or brake pads anywhere so it cannot be that. I wondering what could the issue be. I have attached a video.

  2. The wheels on the derailleur are wobbly and that's how they were from the very beginning. Is that fixable? Or do I need to buy new derailleur? Or maybe buy a whole new bike 🤔😁

My bike keeps switching gears when i pedal, even when i dont use the shifter

If it matters, i have a trek marlin 6 with shimano altus gears.

The bike wont stop changing gears whenever i pedal, im not touching the shifter at all but the chain goes both up and down in gears.

I usually keep it outside, so im not sure if the weather is affecting it.

I went on tiktok and youtube for tips and both had no info that seemed useful, so here is my last option. Please tell me how i can fix it and what equipment i need to use, thanks.

UPDATE: thanks to the answers, the issue has been fixed.

I have the bearings and can use that tool, but was there a standard bearing size for pedals in this era?
2.381 mm (3/32″)?

What should i do ?

Hey, i got a old corratec quassar airtech, and the shock got some weird fastening. Do i find these shocks somewhere?

I was also wondering if i can just put a coil in there, does it have to be same size as the original eyelets(very small) or can i put a longer coil, so that the real triangle and frame gets more angle(the bike gets more up) or is it bad to change that?
