Marquise or pavé wedding band?

Hi dear BBBs! At first I thought pavé but now I’m heavily leaning towards the marquise. Although the pavé is very classic, I can’t help but think the marquise looks more harmonious with my engagement ring? Does anyone have any experience with the comfortability of either styles? What do you think? 😊

How do people decide their wedding budget?

Hello!

We’ve started our venue search and research online on budget, etc., about a few weeks ago.

The more we look into it, the more we realize how expensive things are!

For context, we’re planning on having ~80 guests in the VHCOL area.

Very initially (before any research), we thought 120k would be enough. Very soon enough, we realized it won’t be, and upped our budget to 150k. Now, we’re considering going higher after looking at some nice venues we really liked (apparently 200k for 80 people will just be “comfortable” per a planner that we talked to recently as a first call). To be fair, we are looking at nice hotel venues with high F&B and room block requirements.

My partner and I are fortunate enough to have good income and savings. We can comfortably pay for our wedding with our combined annual bonus on a post-tax basis, with some left for us to save. So we wouldn’t have to dip into savings or anything. Which is what I’m telling myself to justify the evermore increasing budget.

Both of our parents said they will help out, but we don’t expect it to be a huge amount / we don’t want to rely on that when we’re budgeting, since we don’t know the exact amount. So for now, we’re operating as if we won’t be getting any help, and budgeting an amount that if we were to pay the full amount ourselves, we’ll still be okay with it.

HOWEVER, I personally never thought I would ever spend this much on a wedding. Just because we CAN doesn’t mean we SHOULD. But because we CAN and we want a nice wedding, I’m like “why not - this is a once in a lifetime thing”. And then I’m like “is it right to spend this much on a single day?” I’m constantly going back and forth internally.

For context, I never was one of those people who grew up dreaming about weddings, and things like that. It’s a very different story now though, now that I’m in the weeds and I have all these ideas and venues we like. I am particular about aesthetics and niceness of things in general / day-to-day.

So my question is - how do couples decide what they’re comfortable spending on their wedding? Has anyone regretted spending more than they initially thought they would (but not a financial dent, but still)? Or is it worth it? Would appreciate any insights!!!

Dress cost

2028 Rome bride here. Looking ahead for dress ideas!

Does anyone know the cost of these Viktor and Rolf dress? Or any dresses similar? I found the Veni Infantino 69965 which seems similar at a hopefully less price but I like the lower waistline of these.

Thank you in advance! 🤍

Shoes for my welcome party dress?

hello! I just bought my dress for my welcome party (multicultural wedding) and I’m struggling to figure out what shoes match. honestly I’m not hugely into shoes and don’t get the chance to dress up much (so shoes won’t get reworn more than a couple times) so i‘d like to stay under $300 (or lower!). ideally I’d want a heel height of 3 inches or more (Fiancé is 13 inches taller than me!)

side note: the pics don’t really do the dress justice— the whole thing is beaded and weighs like 20 pounds. I’m super excited about it.

I’m wearing a sari (pic 3, though not with the blouse pictured) for the Hindu ceremony part of the wedding, so it would be great if I could rewear the same shoes for that. though, shoes get removed for a Hindu ceremony so if I rewore them, it would have to be something I could easily slip on and off

I was thinking silver or gold heels but I don’t quite know if that’s the best option or what style or which specific shoes and I’m just lost.

Wedding Music - costs and guidance

We are wondering how to make the wedding flow, which music elements did you have during each moment:

Ceremony

Aperitif

Dinner

Party

Additional: Pool Party

If you could share total music costs from your experiences and breakdown that would be great!

Anything you would skip/splurge?

Pro: If Italian wedding - specifically tuscany that would be even more helpful, but looking for general suggestions to make the day flow and keep people entertained!

Vivienne Westwood Tailor

Hi, I have the Vivienne Westwood Mabel but I need to go down a size and the tailor I went to said it would be near impossible to do that with the boning and the fact that the skirt doesn't have seams (because of the slit). Does anyone know of NYC tailors who know VW dresses.

Early July Wedding in Tuscany - is it too hot?

We were considering a 1st july 2028 wedding in tuscany but am worried about heat?

Is it better to avoid early July in general? Our other option would be 1st September - but would assume this is the same?

Any timing tips for wedding ceremonies during these times would be super helpful!

Venues nr Florence / Pisa c. 45mins/1hr driving - 120 ceremony guests + pool on site

Recently engaged and totally lost at where to start! We are looking for a venue not too far from a popular area, so guests can also explore as they wish - we would love to host a day 2 pool party and therefore think we will require a buyout - which is ok but not looking for a crazy expensive venue.

How much can we expect to budget for 120 guests in this area?

Any tips for this region / wedding planning would be very helpful!!

Side note - better to go for a company that does both photo & video, or two separate? Should we photograph day 2 too? If so, do we pay for photographer to stay on site?

Tuscany Wedding 2028 - Inital Help Requested Please!! Wedding Planners/ Initial Budgeting

Hi everyone, My fiancé I are planning our wedding for 2028 in Tuscany (or the surrounding areas), and we’re hoping to get some advice on budgeting. We’ve been speaking to a few planners, and most of them are suggesting that we’ll need a budget of more than £150K to host a wedding for 100-120 guests, even though we won’t be covering accommodation for guests—we plan to offset those costs. Additionally, we’re hosting a second-day pool party, which we’re not including in the wedding budget. To be clear, this is above what we would like to spend.

Just to clarify, our budget will not cover any of the following:

  • Anything related to the bride (dress, makeup, hair)
  • Anything related to the groom
  • Travel expenses for guests

We’re wondering if this budget recommendation makes sense for a wedding in Tuscany or the surrounding areas. Does anyone have experience with weddings in this region and how much they ended up spending for a similar-sized event?

Also, what should we expect to pay for a professional photographer and videographer in Italy? We’re looking for high-quality but not celebrity-level service. If you have any planner recommendations or tips, we’d be very grateful!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Thanks in advance!

Furniture rentals — what’s actually worth it for a black tie optional wedding?

Hi everyone! First off, thank you — I’ve gotten so much helpful advice from this sub throughout my planning process and it’s genuinely made a difference.

I’m now pretty far along in planning and getting into the nitty-gritty details. One of the last bigger decisions I need to make is around furniture rentals, and I’d love some opinions from people who’ve been through this.

Context: • Guest count: ~120–130 • Wedding style: black tie optional • Venue provides: round tables, chairs, bar tables/cruiser tables, bars, linens, plates, cutlery, glassware • Layout: • Room 1: ceremony + dance floor • Room 2: dinner • Terrace: cocktail hour

So anything I rent is purely optional / aesthetic upgrades, but I do want the overall vibe to feel elevated.

Things I already know / am thinking about:

  1. Chairs I really don’t like the chairs the venue provides, so I’m pretty set on renting different ones.

  2. Linens vs napkins (or both?) I’m debating: • Upgrading linens for a pop of color • OR keeping linens neutral and doing colored/textured napkins • OR doing both

If I’m not upgrading plates/cutlery/glassware, does doing both linens + napkins feel like too much visually? Would love thoughts on what actually makes the biggest impact.

  1. Cocktail tables (this is where I’m stuck) The venue’s cruiser tables are basically folding tables with tight/stretch covers… not my favorite.

Options I’m considering: • Just upgrade the linens for those • Rent nicer cocktail tables entirely • Skip cruiser tables and just do smaller bar tables

Do you actually need cruiser tables for cocktail hour? Or can people get by with smaller tables?

  1. Lounge seating / soft seating I’m torn on whether to bring in: • Couches / lounge groupings • Extra structured chairs (especially thinking about older guests) • Seating around the dance floor vs. keeping that area open

The dance floor room isn’t huge, so I’m worried about overcrowding it if I add too much furniture.

Would it make more sense to: • Keep the dance floor room minimal • Add a lounge moment between rooms or elsewhere • Focus seating in the dinner room instead?

  1. How much is too much? For ~120–130 guests, how much extra seating (beyond dinner tables) did you actually need/use?

I’m trying to balance aesthetics vs. cost vs. practicality, and would love to hear: • What rentals made the biggest impact for you • What you skipped and didn’t miss • Anything you regret (either doing or not doing)

Thanks so much in advance 🤍
