Grandma sewing my patches cause I asked her some tips

My grandma has been a professional dressmaker for like 60 years, when she heard me talking about the jacket she instantly went "give me it, I'll do"

It is also my first jacket so having grandma sew a couple makes it just more special.

Dungeon Synth/ Black Metal jacket

Wanted to make something sort of wizardly since I am obsessed with fantastical music. I dyed the denim myself, and the studs I made from a piece of purple heart lumber I had left over from another project. Obviously there's room for a lot more patches, but it's ready to wear out in the wild now.

Any tips or advice on what do for this patch?

I am struggling with this patch, it’s super thick, and there’s glue on the back for iron-on. You can see the size needle I have been using from the very beginning to sew on my patches, but this one is rough.

Any suggestions if I should get a bigger needle or a C-shaped one? I was able to get a few stitches in, but it’s really hard to puncture this one

Help with jacket material

Is there a way to make a jacket that's not made out of jean or leather? I have sensory issues with both those and was wondering if they can be made out of a different material. Or if the Jean and leather are important to keeping patches and stuff on. Is there a way I could make one with more of a hoodie texture?

Wanting to take in this Carhartt vest to put patches on it. Has anyone taken in this kind of vest before? Any advice?

Proud owner of purple beauty

To me this Backpatch screams for some black Metal Patches, maybe Mixed Up with one or two purple ones.

First ever jacket.

First ever jacket! Took maybe 6 hours and is a bit empty. I plan to get more band patches, so everything is from cut up t shirts. Back flag is mostly stapled on. Studs are few and far between, need to buy more!

ALSO it is a deliberate choice for it to be faux leather, I want it to crumble and tear over time.

Any ideas?

I somehow got turned around while sewing this leopard fur onto my collar and ended up with the seams right in the front. Before I redo the whole thing, I was curious does anyone have ideas on how I can cover it up or make it less noticeable? Am I the only one that has managed to do this? lol thank you all.

WIP

Started to re do this vest I started about 10 years ago. I had only put like 3 patches on it then gave up cause I was lazy and didn't want to sew. Still a lot left planned for it but I'm very pleased with how it's been turning out so far

RP my (I guess finished) jacket (with pants as a bonus)

Reposting this without offending imagery. For clarification yes I was a fan of DiJ, assuming at the time their imagery was for shock value (not entirely uncommon in the punk/post-punk scene after all), but have since learned it goes a bit deeper than that with them, to say the least. The patch is long gone (as are a few others that I cannibalised for other projects) and I didn't notice it was still on there in the previous photo. I dug em outta the drawer and took a new one instead, not as good but better all things considered.

To whoever asked about the stitching in the last post: it's thick polyester (keeps the colour better) thread, double threaded. And yes, the stitching was hard especially trying to keep inside of the jacket lining, but worth it.

I’ve got a sleeveless lamb of god flannel. Do you think it would suit a patch jacket?

Kinda wondering if it would be good? I guess there’s one way to find out. What do you think? If you have a flannelette battle jacket pls send me so I know what it looks like
