12 years of ownership and love every drive

My 2008 3.0i with a 6spd manual. Still makes me smile whenever I get behind the wheel on a beautiful day.

Letting my Z4M go, but thank you to this community!

I posted about whether the Z4M roadster was ultimately the right car for me a week or two ago. I wanted to say thank you for all the opinions and advice about how to approach the car.

And what I learned about the Z4M is that it does drive extremely well. It's a special car. And it also taught me about what I'm looking for and not looking for. I need a mid-engine roadster, not a FR. My style of driving simply isn't aggressive enough to extract the "hot chili" factor out of the car. https://youtu.be/0FTcr2IFeg0 to know what I'm talking about.

I'll probably look at doing a listing on BAT or CNB, or otherwise offer the car for a bit of a discount on a FBM or similar pre-listing. It's a 17k mile interlagos blue, no-nav example. I made sure to do the tires, oil, filters, etc. It's always had regular oil, brake, steering and coolant changes.

The prior owner originally installed an aftermarket muffler and AFE intake. I put the stock mufflers back on the car and have a stock intake to install as well. Only issues with the car are some plastic cracking on the rear compartment and some minor headrest wear on the back of the seat. Those plastic pieces can be found on eBay, I don't have any interest in trying to remove and replace them.

Anyway, thank you for all your comments and direction. I really wanted to compliment this community on helping me find good info before I bought one, and certainly while I owned it as well.

4 months in, couldn’t be happier

My first serious car;
I’m in love with this thing, I’ve had it for 4 months and it drives amazingly.

Just installed a big brake kit and honestly it improves the car’s looks and handling a lot

M54B30 Ticking

Any idea what this is? I’m kind of swaying away from lifters because the noise stays constantly with RPMs even when you get it up to redline. Volume doesn’t increase but frequency does with revs. Definitely not rod knock - oil is clean and the car pulls hard. Has driven 20k with this noise according to previous owner. 🤷‍♂️

Tall driver

Hi all im 191 cm (6’3?)

I have tested a z4 with the m seats but my knee was hitting the plastic. I really dont want to accept that i dont fit. I heard the stock seats offer more room? Are there any other means of getting more leg spce in a e85?

These two are the best purchases on wheels I have ever made in my life.

While I have owned my R nineT Urban GS for five years, I am finally the happy owner of a Z4 M40i. It took some time to find one with the specs (and the price) I was looking for, but I finally came across someone looking to exit his lease on a mid-2022 with only 15,000 km (9,300 miles). Absolutely amazed by the car’s comfort (it’s my daily) while also being a seriously fun ride!

Bmw G29 Z4 Owners - Tire Concerns

My 2021 Z4 M40i with 18k miles has the following Michelin Pilot Super Sport stock tires:

Front. 255/35ZR19

Rear. 275/35ZR19

I have two concerns with these tires: First, I had more tire problems with this car than ALL my other cars combined! I've replaced three tires! One due to tire bulge defect and two due to sidewall punctures.

Although I live near rural areas, I rarely drive on dirt roads, so not sure why this is keeps happening!

Lastly, although car is fairly compliant, the tire noise at freeway speeds requires me to turn up PBS really loud to clearly hear what is being said... Have had the car for 3 years and love it, but the darn tire noise may force a change...

Curious as to other owners experiences in this regard ... Thanks!

Green z4 Spotted today!

Had no idea they were even produced in BMW’s deep green metallic(a43)but it looked spectacular! Pictures from my cell don’t do this color justice that’s for sure. So hoping the fella who owns it follows this thread because I’ll post the link to the oil cooler cover his ride is missing.

Help With Oil Light 2003 Z4

I’m having trouble diagnosing this light. It turns off when I’m driving on the highway, but it flickers on and off when I’m at low idle. I’ve already changed the oil sensor and done an oil change. Can you suggest any other possible causes before I take it back to the mechanic?

All three of them turned on at the same time.

Today, when the car was started, the three witnesses appeared at the same time.

Check the level of the tyres and they are correct.

I press the DTC and Flat Tire buttons and they do nothing.

Does anyone have any idea what it could have been? Only at the weekend will I be able to make a scan.

Time for new tires

I run 245/40R18 on front and rear on my e86. Will be time for new tires soon.

Occasionally the fronts rub when I hit a bump at speed. Was thinking of a staggered setup. Wanted to get thoughts from the community from those who do.

Thinking maybe a smaller width on the front set? What would you do?

Looking to purchase

Looking to purchase a first gen Z4 for a daily/second vehicle. I want a fun car and to keep the miles off my truck and get better mpg. I used to own a Z3 2.3. Looking at a 2.5i manual. Anything I should look out for when car shopping? Are they good daily drivers?

Thoughts on repainting a 2007 Z4M Roadster Hardtop?

Hi all,

As the title suggests, I recently bought a 2007 BMW Z4M in Imola red that came with a black hardtop. I’m thinking about having the hardtop painted to match the car, has anyone done this before? I know they’re rare so I’m curious if I’m committing some kind of cardinal sin haha. Anyone have pictures of their E85 roadsters with colour matched hardtops? Would love to see a red one.

Thanks.

Headlight polishing really freshens up the E85.

I unfortunately fudged it up during my first attempt with a cheapo Japanese kit and decided to take it to a detailer instead to fix the fuckup.

Coolant leaking under engine

BMW Z4 E85 2.0 N46

What's the likely culprit for coolant leaking under the left side of the engine? I've pressure tested the system and found no obvious leaks but after a half hour drive I've pulled over and noticed a steady drip
