Laptop friendly late-night coffee spots in Greater Vancouver
I graduated uni last year and throughout my time, I would work on creative side projects at night, cramming for exams when needed. I noticed there weren't many coffee spots that opened late. Now, I dedicate most of my time to these side projects and still face the same problem.
Been scouting them out in the Greater Vancouver area. Made a list, all of which have Wi-Fi. Sectioned by location, opening-times, and vibes.
Note: part of this list is my own curation, part of it I got help from mommy Claude. So if you've been to these places, lmk if any of the info is inaccurate. Also lmk if you gave more places to recommend. Hope this helps.

BCIT has apparently removed Saturday exam invigilation.
As far as I know this was one of the only services of its kind in BC for students balancing full-time work, apprenticeships, shift work, and commuting.
North Van Library offers weekend exam invigilation, though exclusive to it's residents/business owners.
For a school that promotes accessibility and flexible pathways for working adults, this decision feels completely backwards.
A lot of BCIT and external students are working full-time, supporting families, commuting long distances, doing shift-work, and therefore have busy schedules.
Not everyone can take random weekdays off just to write exams.
Weekend invigilation made education realistically accessible for a lot of people. Removing it creates a huge barrier for working students trying to improve their lives.
Has anyone else been affected by this?
Best living options?
Hi guys! I’m planning on going to bcit Burnaby campus either this year or next year, and I’m just wondering how cheap is it to live in an apartment?? I wouldn’t mind living in dorms but I would prefer to be alone and have no roommate. Could anyone tell me their experience?
Medical Radiography or Nuclear Medicine
I’m a high school student and I was curious about both of these programs. How is the job outlook for each? Which one has more potential for higher salary? Any info would be appreciated
CIT Requirements
Hey guys I graduated high school back in 2019 and was the last class to do the provincial exams. I'm just wondering if the CIT program would look at my English 12 exam mark and my final score or the score before my provincials. Sadly it dropped my grade by 10% went from 75% to 65% after I got a 51% on the provincials. Would they even consider me, is it important to get a really high grade for the program requirements as of 2026-2027?
I was already willing to go and upgrade my English and Foundations 12, but I just viewed my transcript and I'm wondering how BCIT would assess my Eng. 12? I know it wouldn't hurt to increase the mark but if I can save money since I'm struggling that'd be awesome. Either way I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get in, I'm going to try my hardest if they accept me. I really need this career change and it's a passion I've had for as long as I can remember.
Thanks everyone for responding and taking time to read this post,
God bless.
How hard is the full time accounting diploma?
Is it easy to make friends and how hard is it compared to other schools. Planning on living in res too. Easy to get coop?
Good afternoon former/to be CIT graduates of BCIT. I'm 24(M), 25 in July, lower mainland, fluent in 3 languages and been in the hospitality industry for a total of 7 years now as a chef. That has been my one and only interest in trades. No post secondary diploma or experience, nothing. Unfortunately I only have work experience and a high school diploma. Always had an interest in technology, I wouldn't call myself "tech savvy" but I grew up with a computer and learned how to solve most if not all technical problems myself including family. I started learning python recently day by day, trying to obtain a Google IT Support and hopefully compTIA A+ cert before the end of the year depending on all the current obstacles I'm facing. That's just life...
Recently I feel like I'm already having some kind of life crisis, lost my full-time job few days ago due to management/employee differences. Long story short started working part time with another business next door, found out wasn't too thrilled, had it out for me. General manager treats employees like garbage, expecting staffs to run like scripts. Perfection only. I'm not going to say the company's name but every year we would receive #1 if not #3 (company) in all of BC. This is the result of everyone's (especially back of house) sacrifices and dedication. That should show how tight of a ship management runs, all while expecting unrealistic standards and expectations above what's been achieved annually with no verbal or physical appreciation. I'm not going to bore you guys with the rest of my financial, family, and etc. situations.
I've been researching a lot about cybersecurity and the tech field as a whole, which led me to these certain programs. I have an understanding of the competitive aspect and where my interests and needs possibly lie. I read the curriculum for CIT AND CIS, in conclusion CIT seems more appropriate for me. Never been great in school due to the mentality I had before, I truly regret being a lazy bum in high school. I'm willing to put my head down and make a positive change in my life. Currently struggling with the dilemma of having to go to Riverside Centre to upgrade my English 12 and Math 12 Foundations, basically 2 months minimum, self paced. I would need to hand in my application to BCIT by 10/1/2026 for 09/1/2027 intake date (if I'm qualified). I feel like I'm really cutting it close if I was to get into Riverside by June next month, I would have like under 3 months to finish those courses. Anyone with experience/knowledge could possibly give me an estimated timeframe of how fast I could do it as a "capable" but not intelligent person. I'm super eager to learn and make a pivotal change at this point in my life. All said and done if everything works out, my goal is to join the field latest by 29 years old.
I was wondering if anyone who's taken/taking the CIT program could give me insight of realistically how manageable the topics and workload is, as someone with no real post secondary experience and knowledge but interest in technology and willing to work hard. Read a lot of posts, definitely not an easy field to enter. I don't come from a lot of money, family is well below average with debt. Unfortunately my terrible immature spending habits accumulated over the years, which left me little to zero to spend (accumulating in ETF/Stocks now). Hypothetically speaking, I wouldn't be able to pay for the tuition cost even if it was installments, shamefully it would be my parents. I'm terrified, if I was to fail and not be able to keep up with the criteria/assignments that would create an even bigger burden for my parents especially since they're old. I don't know what I'm more terrified of, not being able to keep up and failing my parents again, or possibly no positive change to society and to my future life and career.
Time doesn't wait, in a blink of an eye I'll be 30. A major dilemma I have is going into culinary school with the experience I have, maybe culinary school will spark my love and passion for cooking even more. I never enjoyed the strict structure with little to no creativity at the place I worked, maybe that would change and everything will get better? The uncertainty of what career path to take is killing me, I know I'm a great cook and enjoy it but on the other hand I've always been fascinated by technology and it's a road I've never truly considered until now. I should've paved myself a path a lot sooner. Should I try to get into the CIT program with *ALL* things considered, is it worth it? I really want to believe in myself but don't know what to expect.
Thank you all for your time and help, hopefully these questions and my structure of writing won't bore you guys too much.
Sincerely, A

Hey, I'm a BCIT alum and need to hire somebody for a technical position. I posted the position in all the regular places, but what's a good way to reach recent BCIT grads who are looking for work?
If you can spot the bci in this mri scan photos I will e transfer you 25000 but you have to explain where you see it. Good luck !
I applied for BCIT's mls program, but I'm still waiting for the end of the application period to find out if I got shortlisted. It's taking forever and I'm wondering if it's worth putting off my uni decisions for.
For anyone who has experience in this program, how hard was it to get in and is the workload manageable? the mls site page says there are at least 5 courses per semester. I haven't looked at other courses at BCIT but that seems like a lot compared to uni. is it easy to fail or are all the courses all an average amount of difficulty? and how many students straight out of high school are there usually per cohort?
Hello, i will be starting my classes in September in robotics at BCIT, how can i connect with my future classmates or current students in these fields? is there a Discord or some online place i can talk/chat with them?
MLS Unofficial University Transcript
I am applying to the MLS program and want to submit my transcript for my HSCI degree from SFU, I graduated in 2025. I am only able to get a digital version of my unofficial transcript, as the official version can only be physically mailed out. SFU also does not send an electronic copy to BCIT. Will the unofficial transcript be enough or should I order the physical version of my official transcript?
Hey guys,
This is my first year attending BCIT for the flexible classes so, I am trying to understand process and policies here.
I am taking a HR class Barbara Sharp but, I am thinking of dropping out due to the lack of communication and actual teaching of the course.
If I request a withdrawal now (start April 7th, been 4 weeks so far), will I be able to receive a LW on my transcript and receive some of my tuition back?
I’m a little confused about the timeframes for withdrawls so, if some could clarify that with me that would be great!
Hi everyone!
I’m a bit confused about the registration process for BHSC 1200 at BCIT. I have a BCIT student ID and access to myBCIT, but I’m not currently in any program. Do I still need to apply to a program (like General Studies or something else) in order to register for the course when it opens?Or is having a student ID and myBCIT access enough, and I just register when enrollment opens?
Just trying to understand if any extra eligibility/permission is required.
Thanks!
Hi im a grade 12 going into the civil engineering program and wanted to know how the workload is. How much hours do yall typically dedicate to school work? Having 8-9 college courses seems really daunting. Also the website said something about needing 300 hours of work experience to go into 3rd year, how does that work? And how does coop work? I saw that there are coop terms but the website didn't say much else.
Hi! I’ve applied to BCIT for the medical laboratory science diploma program, and i got an email saying that they will begin shortlisting applicants for the MOAs (Multiple Online Assessments) does anyone know what these assessments entail or if I need to study for them? Are they maybe like the SAIT PSEAs?
