I want to record and play live as a Hardcore Punk Band in Austin

Hello, I've been trying to create a band for quite sometime. I live in Austin Texas closer to the northside. I have a name, the concept of the band, I've fully written lyrics, and compositional demos that we can improve on practice with. My demos are more in the ilk of the Old school Hardcore like Minor Threat, Bad Brains, and Black Flag.

Demo #1

Demo #2

Demo #3

Now, I'm not opposed with other ideas of songs nor demos of your own, I just made a lot of them in my years. Also, its a band; everyone adds something in the group. The band I'm planning to form has two guitarists, a bassist, and a drummer. Any more details I'll tell you in private.

Dad band?

Singer/guitarist/bassist here. I write songs and am looking for collaborators/start a band. Old post hardcore/punk, sometimes emo guy, I like melodies and soft loud soft loud stuff. I'm into stuff like the replacements, hot water music, menzingers, Springsteen, petty, pinegrove, superdrag, jets to brazil... To give a range.

Thanks. (You don't have to be a dad, moms are cool too)

I'm an improv guitarist noise enthusiast in Austin. It seems like there are limited performance opportunities unless us weird-music makers unite and put on shows. I could be very wrong, but is there a community for the experimental sounds? If so, let's join together and put on shows!

Will drum for egg punk garage rock noise

Hey I’m Sam. I’ve played bass, guitar, drums in a lot of bands and trying to play drums (or whatever you need) for something cool. Here’s what I’m into:

Egg Punk: The Spits, The Gobs, Prison Affair, Gee Tee, RMFC, Snooper, Guiding Light, Diode, The Urinals, Screaming Urge, Wire, Ceremony, The Ramones

Garage Rock: King Khan and the BBQ Show, The Mummies, Personal and the Pizzas, Bloodshot Bill, The Osees, Ty Segall, The Gories, Pussy Galore, Tronics, Johnny Thunders, Dead Ghosts

90’s indie stuff: Guided by Voices, Archers of Loaf, Polvo, Yo La Tengo, Duster, The Breeders,

More indie stuff: Kleenex Girl Wonder, The Clean, Television Personalities, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

And many more: Swell Maps, Women, Ought, Omni, Sonic Youth

I have a full kit and other equipment as shown. I record a lot of songs and ideas on a tascam porta studio 4. I love anything lofi.

I live in S Austin around Oltorf and S Congress. Super flexible work schedule and we can practice at my place n hang out. My neighbors are chill lol

Yea if any of this stuff interests you, let’s get something going so we can play shows.

Caught this powerful debut last night — thought others should know about them!

Marfa Motel Delivers a Blistering Austin Debut at Valhalla Tavern
AUSTIN, Texas — On Friday, May 8 at Valhalla Tavern, Marfa Motel didn’t just play their first Austin show — they lit up the room with raw urgency and undeniable star power. The West Texas power trio (vocalist/guitarist, bassist, and drummer) brought desert psych, bluesy swagger, and punchy rock energy that felt fresh and electric.
They opened with the explosive “Give Me Fire,” and from the first riff it was clear the vocalist/guitarist is something special. He commands the stage with magnetic superstar presence — a lived-in rasp that moves effortlessly from intimate verses to soaring anthemic choruses, while attacking his guitar with fuzzy, articulate leads and chunky chords. You can tell he’s meant for big things.
The rhythm section was telepathic: a locked-in bassist and a dynamic drummer who shifted from sparse, tribal grooves to full-kit thunder. They tore through “How Much It Hurts” with raw emotional depth, delivered the moody groove of “Down by the River,” and hit hypnotic waves on “Feel It.” Every song showed tight chemistry and real heart.
It was bittersweet that the late-night crowd had thinned out, but those who stayed got to witness a band that already sounds complete. No filler, no gimmicks — just three players building something powerful together. In a city full of music, Marfa Motel stood out with passion, skill, and songs that stick with you.
This trio (especially that frontman) won’t stay under the radar for long. Highly recommended. 🔥

Best Open Mics in Your Humble Opinion

I've been in Austin since 2015 and used to LOVE going to Kickbutt Coffee's Thursday night open mic. They still do them on Sundays, but that's usually my day to do nothing and unwind for the week ahead. I've been thinking about going to Dear Diary Coffee's open mic, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

What are your favorite open mics in Austin these days?

Hey Austin musicians,

I’m an audio engineering student at a local studio and I am looking for bands/artists that are interested in doing a free recording/mix at our studio, with mastering included. You will have a free fully mixed and mastered song at the end, let me know if anyone is interested! Rappers and solo acoustic artists are more than welcome!

Keep Austin weird, yall!

The city runs market days and is soliciting for musicians and bands. The pay is $0.00

They want acts for mid day June, July, August and I believe you bring your own pa.

For free. Literally everyone there is making money. The city boasts how they support music but this shows what they really think.

They allow busking (not my thing) but you have to buy a permit.

What a joke.

Our band "Almost Related" released our first album this week, "A Million Lightyears" which has been a project over a year in the making. Now available on streaming platforms. The next thing we want to do is work with an Austin venue for an album release show.

We greatly appreciate any listens:

Sooo, I moved here before Christmas to be near my son. Lost my Dad in end of Feb. My fiance moved here then. It’s been such a rollercoaster and…tomorrow is his Birthday!!! Mind you he’s never been out of FL, let alone seen any city high rises! We haven’t even been out for working and $$!
Any ideas for a UNFORGETTABLE away from all he knows Birthday on a budget for tomorrow?? I’d love to take him up to a roof top for a birthday wish only not sure how the high rise personal would react or welcome it..
Thanks yall!! He deserves it! Just low $$ because we moved into our apt last week!!! 🎉🎂🥳👩‍❤️‍👨

"Indie alt dream with a tuch of psyc blues Hey everyone! I'm looking for musicians to start an indie/alt rock band. I've already got 4 original songs and some covers ready to go. Ideally, we need a drummer, but I'd also love to find someone who plays keys/organ/synth. I'm really into bands like Television, Dinosaur Jr., Queens of the Stone Age, and Pixies, but I'm not stuck on that sound. In fact, it would be cool if your interests were a little different but still in the same ballpark. I'm trying to form a group of good people to start from the ground up, with good vibes as the priority. If this sounds like you, hit me up!"
