Midea U Mod question to help with excessive moisture
I just ordered my third Midea U unit. The last two had the issue with moisture building up and causing mold. Midea kept asking me for my original order information for the second unit, and then ghosted me, so fuck'em, I'm not at all worried about voiding the warranty. Also, the u / saddle shaped units are the only ones that fit in my window, but the Midea seems to be the best and quietest, and I know it works with Home Assistant. The last unit I had started pooling water during the winter, and then everything outside froze, so the water froze and ruined the unit.
I run a 3D printing farm in a 8x10x8 room so keeping the moisture low is important. I seem to have a lot of moisture possibly due to the window itself which is probably needing to be replaced, so I would be running the AC primarily in dry mode. My room already reaches 85F without anything running, so having a print farm going, and needing to keep the window closed is just torture
The last unit I got from Amazon was "Updated", but apparently didn't have the right fixes, so I expect the new unit to also have the moisture/mold issue. The modification I am considering is cutting a large hole the entire width of the unit out of the bottom of the AC with a dremmel and using mesh to keep things out of the unit, just to help all the excess moisture drain properly. Is this modification a good idea?
The Midea unit will be a temporary thing until I can eventually get a Mini Split, and either all the tools or have someone install it for me.

Am I doing something wrong ?
The side panels on the window AC don’t cover the whole window ?
Do portable AC with inverter technology have to be drained?
I’m investing in a new portable AC with inverter technology. Do they have to be continually drained like the cheaper models. I have one that’s 1/2 the price of an inverter model and have a drain hose on it constantly draining into a pail. It works great. Don’t want to ruin the new one. #help

Portable AC Not Cooling
I recently upgraded from a single hose Della 14,000 BTU to a Whynter dual hose 14,000 BTU hoping that it would cool my room more effectively. It worked like a charm during the winter, but now that temperatures are getting in the 80s and 90s, I find myself waking up at the late hours of the night uncomfortable and sweating.
The AC suddenly jumped up to 65-66F instead of 60 which is what I have it set to. I know that sounds reasonably cold, but I have temperature regulation issues that makes anything above 60F a nightmare.
I tried the “follow me” mode which uses a separate thermometer on the remote, and nothing changed. I’ve repeatedly drained it of any water and clean the filter every other week, and it’s well sealed with foam. Am I missing something, or is this unit just not great? Any help would be much appreciated!
Is it okay to have 1.5hp for a 10sqm room?
Hi, our room is 10sqm with 2 High end PC, from 8am to 12mn naka-open, a big corner window. 2 people with a cat. Is 1.5hp okay or should I opt for a lower hp? Thank you!

Is this fine for a universal window ac bracket setup?
The bottom of the AC isn't flat so there's no way for it to make full contact. It has contact at the front and back. I have the window wedged at the top so it won't open, and there ac curtains/middle rail is drilled on the inside of window.
It seems tight, but I'm curious if not having any support in the middle is an issue.

Thanks and Happy Easter.
Mini AC sounds useful… but does it really cool the room or just feel like small fan?
A few days ago I am seeing a mini ac on a table and it look very small compared to normal air conditioner. I am just staring like okay… how this tiny thing is cooling honestly. It have water tank and little fan inside, and air coming out feel bit cool but not very strong. It feel more like personal cooling not full room thing. I am thinking maybe good for desk use but not for whole space.
Now I am thinking if mini ac is actually worth it or just temporary solution. I usualy depend on normal fan or full AC so this feel in between. I am also wondering about power and cooling time, like how long it stay cool. Some days ago I am not paying attention to this but now it feel interesting option. It look easy to use but maybe not very powerful.
Later I am laying and scrolling random stuff, checking many options on alibaba and seeing mini ac designs. Some look very compact honestly. Now I am thinking if its good for daily use or just for small need only.

Why all console fan coil units use a blow through arrangement instead of a draw through. Even though draw thru is more efficient at dehumidification.

Advice needed: how to seal the gap on a double sliding window while using a portable AC with a single hose?
has anyone handled this situation properly? I can't seem to find a good solution
- it's a double sliding window. so normally the air seal is locked when both sides of the window are close. bristles and a plastic flap interlock. since the AC kit is installed on my left side window. the Seal is not right anymore. so where the two windows meet, left and right .....there's now a gap that funnels air through it
since I live in a high rise. it's not just a little leak. there's pressurized air funneling through like a wind tunnel.
I need a proper way to limit that air. the other thing is I need to open my right side window daily. so It cant be something that is permeantly fixed like putting duck tape over the gap.
Cockroach in AC
I have an AC unit in my bedroom.i don't know the type. The normal one mounted on the wall high up? I'm deathly afraid of cockroaches for context. One just came through my AC. It happened to me once before. I heard the rattling noise, it triggered my cockroach PTSD spidey-sense and I looked up just in time to see it falling/flying out the unit. I was on the computer so not asleep or my head would have been right there. I can't even think. I feel physically sick. It's flying and disappeared somewhere in my bed things. No one to call for help. Is this a thing???
Like, how? An AC repair person is due soon for the regular cleaning, what to say/do/ask??? I don't want to sound like a crazy person, but it came through the AC. Last time, they gaslit me but I saw it clearly this time. It was not in the house previously. It wasn't trying to get out or anything. It just came out the AC. What do I tell them to check? Air vents? There's a fan setting without cooling, is this bringing air (and cockroaches) in from outside or something? Is is just sucking in outside stuff through a air pipe?
(I have two cats for protection, but they're bougie. They just stared at it like they were as confused as I was.)
