r/AZCardinals
I'm not the biggest fan of our draft class either, but I think we have the best class in the division
I think they all reached with their first picks and none of them drafted a starter, while I think our first 2 picks are 2 great players (ignoring the money side of drafting Love)
Take another QB next year no matter what?
I'm trying to figure out how they work Beck in this season to see what they have but still look at a QB next season. I'm afraid if Beck plays decently well they pass on looking at QBs thinking they have the guy. This season is not going to be enough to know what you have. If I were GM I take a R1 QB next year even if Beck looks good (if it works out with where you're picking or able to trade up) and just deal with the problem of having two promising/developing QBs.
What's the best way to play him this year? Brissett should start and he gives us the best chance to win, but you need to see Beck play at least some, right?
Round 1 - Pick 5: Arvell Reese, LB, Ohio State (New York Giants)
Round 2 - Pick 10: Christen Miller, DT, Georgia (New Orleans Saints)
I really don't hate the Beck pick at all
Let's break this down.
Pros:
- Ideal height/size for the QB position
- Has a nose for winning - career 37-6 record as a starter in the SEC and ACC
- Efficient thrower of the football - threw over 70% completion percentage in 2023 and 2025
- Has played in a lot of big games including a National Championship game, has some of his best performances in the biggest spots against top competition
- Mobile enough for the position, good pocket awareness and presence
- Arm strength is a plus overall and he's very capable of pushing the ball down the field
- Is a tough gamer who rises to the occasion and not afraid to play through injury/get hit
- Definitely has that swagger/edge to him - natural leader who will fire up the guys
Cons:
- Has made some mistakes in unfortunate situations, more interceptions than you'd like to see
- His social media presence is divisive and he dates influencers
- People seem to think he has a punch-able face?
So yeah there's a lot to like with the pick and the downsides are pretty minimal. I'm less concerned about his potential which I know he has. I'm more concerned about: is this the right situation for him to meet his potential? He'll have some weapons with Love, Connor, Harrison Jr., and McBride.
What grade would you give this Cardinal draft and why?
I’ve seen what grades we are getting by different publications, but what does Reddit have to say and why?
Beck Arm Strength - Pre Elbow Surgery
He had UCL surgery Dec 2024 - usually takes 18 months for qb's to regain arm strength. Same time line for pitchers in MLB. Guy has a rifle in these clips. Same height and weight as josh allen on draft day. 6'4 6/8ths vs 6'4 7/8ths inches.
UNPOPULAR OPINION! CARSON BECK
I don't understand the hate this pick gets. We LITERALLY are bottom of the barrel. The worst of the worst in the league. We have nothing to lose. And taking Carson beck doesn't affect our ability to take a qb next year too. we are all expecting to suck this year. Might as well give this guy a chance.. It feels like such a low risk high potential move.

Taylor Decker?
I seriously doubt Elijah Wilkinson will be starting RT this season.
Decker is best OL left in FA and would provide a 1 - 2 year stopgap until ARZ can find a younger RT option.
Carson Beck will be our Bo Nix
Quite a few similarities between both QBs. -
Both were late transfers.
Both played a ton of college games.
Both have offensive minded coaches
Neither have any traits that jump off the page.
Both know how to manage a game and distribute the ball to their best players
Both will frustrate the hell out of you with inaccuracy and dumb picks
Both when put in the right situation can win you some big games.
I’m cool with it.
