Anyone else feeling pessimistic about crusade in 11th?

Maybe it’s just that we haven’t seen all of it yet but the Dominatus cards that look to be replacing crusade just seem not it. The whole “every game is competitive and narrative” feels like it’s gonna be a big flop. And if crusade rules are gonna be gone from codexes like people are thinking, there’ll be no point getting them since within 3 months they’ll be updated and errata’d so much.

Hopefully the crusade rules from 10th will at least carry over with minimal fixes, but overall I’m just very skeptic of how 11th is looking.

Homebrew duel rules

Did anyone ever tried to make a duel mini game of sorts? Let's say that I wanted to have a post game event where the infantry warlords from 4 players were locked in an arena of sorts and needed to duke it out. Are there any homebrew rules or a game system that I could try to reuse for 40k?

Not to doom… but… no more crusade books? Just the dominatus deck to string match play games together? Yes we need to wait and see for when it comes out but feels like crusade blessing ect might be dead on a campaign level. Maybe we still get the 10ed codex ones for a while until the codex rotation.

Others have any thoughts?

Sounds decent. Most of the core mechanics are kicking around still. Might also mean we will see additional decks/settings over the course of the edition.

Going in with an open mind. This seems more accessible, less sprawling, with less admin. Cautiously optimistic.

Hi folks, some of you may recognise my work with full campaigns being released for free on this subreddit, and to those of you that do; the fuck you doing remembering me, go play your crusade. However there's some concerns about the future of crusade as a fully supported format for 11th edition and there's some good and some bad to take away from what the unboxing.

First and foremost, there is not native support for crusade in what was shown. This is an important thing to verify, because it's true. They didn't mention crusade rules at all, and did show off that narrative deck thing instead. However, it is important to remember that the box is designed for new players. We as experienced players (or even those with an existing army) are looking at the box for the rules, the models, and the new tactical deck. GW is looking at it as a way to sell 40k to new players. There's a lot of admin in crusade and I wouldn't want to sell people on 40k by throwing a spreadsheet at them. It's very likely we're not going to see direct support from just the box content, just as it wasn't in the 9th edition box.

10th having a crusade book in the box is extremely new, and some folks may not realise that in general, GW has not directly supported narrative play basically ever before crusade play. The closest you get is the suggestion that you have a GM for games back in Rogue Trader. Even then, if GW doesn't produce rules or books, I personally will try to keep the rules flowing and if I can will provide documentation for you to do it on your own because that seems like a good idea. GW can and will make changes to the game, some of us remember 2nd and 3rd edition (yes, I am in fact that old) and are glad for those changes, but as it stands GW has said that all the rules in your codex (and the errata) are usable in 11th until your codex, and your codex has Crusade rules in them.

So do not give up hope. Doing so is a tacit admission that you can only play using the rules GW gives you, and this is a casual format so we don't have to listen to them at all. My own crusade group has it's own errata, custom units, and much more in spite of GW, not because of them. Don't let the bastards grind you down, keep your chin up, your upper lip stiff, and carry on making cool things.

Hello Redditors,

I defacto run out local wargames club at the FLGS. We've successfully run Nachmund Gauntlet and Armageddon crusades, and have penciled in the 500 worlds Campaign as our own launch into 11th edition.

We had 24 players sign up for Armageddon, and I'm expecting the same turn out for 500 worlds, if not a little more.

How have people run this with larger groups? (book recommended is 12 players over 6 months)

Our club meets up every fortnight for games at the store, so was thinking that would be a good time to do the "declare actions" bits.

What pitfalls have people run into? Any recommendations to help me run this smoothly?

Please let me know.

Cheers,

I'm starting a Crusade for Armageddon, but I am sorely outdated on Crusade Roster options.

Does anyone have an updated 10th edition fillable PDF or Google Doc-style roster? Specifically, I'll be playing Knights and Marines (with maybe some Agents thrown in), but the Imperial Knights crusade mechanic has me a little overwhelmed and I'm hoping to find a roster specifically compatible to them.

This is my homebrew detachment for the 8th legion. I plan to use this in a friendly crusade game so please let me know if this is good flavor wise as well as relatively balanced! Hope you enjoy.

After seizing power of the Carrion Lords, Archon Morrigan Calruin needed to consolidate his rule with a true feast of agony to sate the questionable loyalty of his remaining Kabal. Fortunately, sources highlighted a weak world barely defended by the dregs of a genetically deviant chapter of Astartes. Geneseed for the Haemonculi, gladiators for the Wyches and slaves for the Kabal, it was too tempting to ignore.

The raid had been an unbridled success, with Kabalites spilling forth from Raiders to secure important objectives while Scourges and Ravagers poured fire upon Astartes armour until a counterattack came.

Screaming sermons to his men, a Chaplain fought his way to Calruin and his squad. Every strike of his Crozius slaughtered another Kabalite, but it didn't matter; this prize would be the Archons alone.

His Shadowfield shrouding him from the clumsy swings of the impetuous Chaplain, the Archons Huskblade soon found the flesh of the righteous warrior. First, Calruin took his hands at the wrist before gutting the defenceless Chaplain and finally striking his head from his body. The tortured soul of his victim flowed into his Soul Trap with a shiver of delight before Calruin ordered his Raiders crew to retrieve the body; the Haemonculi could turn this creature into something most amusing.

Their holds bursting with slaves, warriors invigorated and a plum prize taken, the Kabal of the Carrion Lords left the world as fast as they arrived, making for the Dark City with howls of delight.

I’m looking for an app or website to help me run a crusade campaign for free, all the ones I saw required a higher tier to create and run a campaign. If one exists please let me know.
