Am I aware this is probably an oversight and will be FAQd? Yes.
(An explanation), you cannot guide into hidden units outside of detection range, and the detection range buff only works while a unit is shooting, meaning that you cannot use the pathfinders ability so the opponent gets cover and you get -1BS from not guiding. You could use another unit to guide but that does defeat the rule of pathfinders.
