My 3ds Xl won’t get past this screen when I turn it on.
I am having this issue where It’s giving me this message on on my very old New 3ds xl. I’ve tried safe mode L + R + A D-Pad Up. It gives me a black screen and blue light.

So I had this happen a couple days ago after dropping it accidentally and what I did was remove the Wi-Fi chip and put it back in, and it started turning on again just without Wi-Fi which I didn’t think was a big deal. This morning, I tried turning it back on again, and it was stuck on the backlight screen. I did the same thing again and took the Wi-Fi chip out and back in. I removed the SD card multiple times, I formatted the SD card fat 32 with 64 kB cluster sizes and moved all my files back on, and right now it’s still stuck on the backlight screen. My SD card is 64 gb and I know it’s recommended to have 32 or less but it was working just fine for like a week. So is there anything else I can do? Should I order a new Wi-Fi chip?
I wanted to show off my n3ds XL that I got off of ebay. However, that's not the main reason for posting.
I reached out to u/retro-redeemed after finding some of his replies on posts about 3dses. The guy is EXCEEDINGLY professional, an absolute angel to work with.
Seriously, if you want ANY work done with your 3ds, go to him. His turnaround time is so fast and is willing to talk with you about any concerns or questions. He fixed my peeling shell, and replaced my screens, even upgrading one for me after I asked about it initially! He even threw in a clear case and screen protectors for me!
I want to personally shout him out for the best work I've ever seen, and the best kind of customer service he could offer. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I mean it. <3
PLEASE go support him via dm's on Reddit or his website: https://shop.retroredeemed.com
Hi, I’m not very good at speaking English. But I appreciate your help with this issue with the New 3DS XL.
I’ve just bought it from a friend as a personal challenge to try and fix it. I’m new to the 3DS community in general, so please forgive me if I don’t understand certain terms 😅.
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a second hand New 3DS XL whose bottom screen slowly got wonky over time, with misrecognition of touch and eventually barely recognising touch at all. I took it to a local repair store which specialise in video game consoles (they have repaired my Vita and my older 3DS successfully and are generally quite reliable). They eventually managed to locate a replacement screen which seeme to work well. However, the literal day I took the repaired 3DS home (after checking it over at the shop and everything), it had gone back to it's previous state after I opened it. And this was a brand new screen.
I'm sending it back to the store, but they sounded befuddled as well. Does anyone have any ideas what on earth this could be? I feel like the problem happens because the 3DS is closed but I'm not sure how the hinges would affect the touchscreen in this way.
[Picture: I am tapping the left side of the screen but the input is registering on the right]
Is there any way of fixing this that's worth the effort? Or having someone fix it for me?
I’m planning on buying this N3DSXL, buyer says A/B/X/Y buttons need to be pressed a bit hard and that the bottom screen has a part (white line in the picture) doesn’t work, you guys think is gonna need something expensive to be fixed? Asked price is about 155 usd..
Any help is appreciated, Thanks in Advance.
The thing is, I lent it to my younger brothers once, and they fought over it, damaging the memory card. I don't remember what data was on it or what was installed.
I tried downloading Luma 8.1.1 (the version that appears when I press Select + Power) but it didn't work. I don't know if it had other files on it.
I've already tried several YouTube tutorials and searched on Google and GitHub, but nothing has worked.
I need help. I just charged my 3DS XL after years of not using it, and when I turn it on, the power light comes on but it crashes and there's no image. It has an SD card with some games. If I remove the card and turn it back on, it displays a normal image, but if I move the screen, it turns off by itself. It also says it can't read the SD card. If anyone knows how to fix it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
My top screen goes darker at certain angles and I am wondering if this is because the top LCD is dying or because there is a ribbon cable not seated correctly.
I accidentally broke the latch that secures the Circle Pad cable. I’ve temporarily “fixed” it with sticky tack, but I can't find that part to buy.
Bought this off of eBay and the listing said that the analog button was off but had no good pictures of it. It won't move to the right because of the gunk on it. How should I go about fixing this and what products should I buy to fix it? Any and all help is much appreciated!
Title says it all but I have been having issues with this 3DS on an off for about a year, I call it my zombie console because it never seems to want to stay alive very long, and when it works, it's only for about a week.
I suspect it is a hardware issue so I opened it up and reseated all the cables, prior to this I had to apply hard pressure to the lower bottom left side of the console to get it to boot (otherwise would flash red led and not boot) yes I replaced boot.firm and I also checked the connections on that side specifically but everything was fine from what I could see. After "repair" same behavior
I am wondering if there is a specific component I should be looking for when I conduct repairs or if there is something prone to failing I am unaware of?
anyways I am considering buying an ANBERNIC RG DS if this thing truly is toast, it would cost less money to buy this than a new motherboard. anyone have thoughts on this console?
I got a 3ds xl refurbished pretty recently and only after a week the screen became floppy and stopped locking into place how it usually does. Thats when i noticed the R trigger was kinda broken and one side of the bar that connects the two screens was cracked a lil bit (shown in the pictures). I was just wondering if there is any way to fix this and how to do
It, much thanks!!
Been getting the urge to play Monster hunter and Smt in ym 3ds and remembered why I stopped using it. The right hinge is separated as you can see. I was wondering how difficult it would be to repair it and potentially replace the shell.
This is my first time working on a 3ds and it was actually a lot of fun. Gonna have to buy another screen as the one that I bought has slight discoloration. However, it was really fun to get into the guts of this thing and fix it.
So... this 3DS was having CTRNAND issues.
I’ve been following the Sthetix guide to fix it, and everything seemed to be going well until one specific file failed to copy/install.
Against my better judgment, I rebooted after it finished, and now I’m stuck here (see video/image).
Is it even worth trying ntrboot at this point?
Here’s the catch:
• I have no NAND backup.
• I’m suspicious of the hardware because of that failed copy/install.
• Tracking down a compatible flashcart will be a massive hassle. (Some say cheap knockoff are the one that’s available).
I’m worried that if the file failed to copy because the physical NAND chip is actually dying, then ntrboot is just going to be a waste of time and money.
Has anyone dealt with a failed CTRNAND transfer? Is this a sign of a permanent hardware "failing NAND," or is there a chance ntrboot can force a fix despite the previous error?
