PLEASE HELP: 3ds Bottom Screen Behaving Weirdly Despite Replacement

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a second hand New 3DS XL whose bottom screen slowly got wonky over time, with misrecognition of touch and eventually barely recognising touch at all. I took it to a local repair store which specialise in video game consoles (they have repaired my Vita and my older 3DS successfully and are generally quite reliable). They eventually managed to locate a replacement screen which seeme to work well. However, the literal day I took the repaired 3DS home (after checking it over at the shop and everything), it had gone back to it's previous state after I opened it. And this was a brand new screen.

I'm sending it back to the store, but they sounded befuddled as well. Does anyone have any ideas what on earth this could be? I feel like the problem happens because the 3DS is closed but I'm not sure how the hinges would affect the touchscreen in this way.
