For my Tacoma What are some neat accessories or things to buy for it??
After about 8 months of searching for a good 2nd gen I finally bought my first, and hopefully last, tacoma.
2014 trd sport 4x4 103k miles
Got lucky and found this loved and maintained by a retired couple in arizona who kept it garaged and just looking to get more towing capacity.
Excited to keep breaking her in and learning from you all.
Anyone have lower miles?

Just got this white topper that I’ll probably get painted one day lol, but it didn’t come with a key, anyone with solutions? Where should I get a key made ? Looks like this topper is from protops if that helps any…
I’ve had this issue for a little bit and it’s progressively getting louder and more consistent. It sounds like it’s coming from the middle/the half towards my transfer case of my rear driveshaft. It happens on take offs and lasts the longest when I go slowly at low RPMs. It happens in both 4WD and 2WD.
Also when I go into drive, unless I have both feet on the brake to the floor, the truck will clunk and jerk forward a bit, although it’s not too violent.
I’ve tried and checked:
-No loose exhaust shields
-Greased and inspected slip yoke
-Greased u joints
-Mechanic told me to replace the carrier bearing and while I was at it I replaced the u joint right there
Anything else yall recommend??? I know I definitely haven’t done it all and I’m not that experienced so I’m out of ideas and mechanic GPT gave me nothing…
have a 06’ tacoma and wonder if anyone have recs for some good Head units? Checked crutch field but i’ve been looking for a good size like around 9’ screen that flushed with the stereo instead of floating. I’ve also seen a brand called Daisita (if i’m sure that’s how it’s spelled) and saw it’s good so does anyone have like a opinion or review on it?
mainly looking for the ability to mirror my phone onto the screen or something in that aspect?
just looking for peoples opinion on head units that’s lasted and perform well.
I’m doing a speaker upgrade on my 2011 Prerunner. Kicker sent me this adapter for the rear doors, and from what I have seen it should have been the right part for this door. The white end does not seem to be the typical factory option for second gen Tacomas. Can anyone help me identify which adapter I need to get or let me know if I should just splice it together?
The truck is clean. 125,000 miles. Interior showing some use, but I can get seats detailed. Verified clean title. Spent its life so far in US south west, so frame is almost completely rust free. New KO3 tires and a pristine ARE topper with tow package. Strong service history and a rotor replacement this past week. Also had struts replaced within the year. I have an opportunity to buy for $17,900 strikes me as a good deal in the current Tacoma market especially where I live in the rockies. Would you pull the trigger?
I have an 87 4runner, and I just need something reliable, that I can go camping, off roading, and use for work, It’s hard to find a double cab, long bed, 4wd, and the v6 all together. The truck looks to be in good shape, with some minor scratches. I am worried about spending $18,000 on a truck with 160,000 miles, does this sound like a good deal??
As the title suggests, I’m looking for a good head unit for the stereo, but all of the ones I’m seeing on Amazon for my 08 sr5 are to replace the OEM screen head unit when I’m working with the barebones radio. (See photos below)
So if there’s anyone who was in the same boat as me, I’d love to see what you found. I’d prefer a touch screen but even if I can just use Bluetooth or an aux cord I’d be a happy camper!
I've had this truck since I was in college and in Feb 2005 is when I finally received it (ordered in December 2004). SR5 trim level, I couldn't find a nicer trim since I told them it needed to be 4WD, manual, and double cab - those were my must haves. I haven't driven her much since about 2018 since I've had other cars with better fuel economy (currently a 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid touring with 129k miles going strong, had to put smaller 17s on it though).
Posting because I need reassurance to keep this truck. Summer 2024 I spent around $3k getting the 4WD to engage, the shifter replaced (completely shredded), fuel sensor and pump replaced (showed empty all the time and went ahead and replaced pump because why not when doing the fuel sensor), AC/heat only blew on high. Now I have maybe $2k (per the dealership/stealership) for a new front axle and shocks + alignment. My driver side shocks completely snapped off and I figured going to a mechanic and having Bilsteins thrown in would probably cost what the dealer would charge for OEM. Also the reason I want a new front axle is because the CV boot on driver side was damaged from the shocks and I'd rather just have the entire thing replaced since it could be damaged worse than just the boot (it knocks when I turn hard to the left). That wet spot under my truck in the photo is from the soda I poured to clean up the battery just now.
I'm trying to decide if it's worth to fix just the mechanical issues or if I should actually do what I've been wanting to do with it - get the paint stripped and have it lined with that bed lining stuff. Need to get the headlights replaced and a new stereo and speakers. Because I'm spending all this money getting it fixed over the last two years I might as well drive it more and I think I'd enjoy it more with some of those upgrades/replacements. Y'all think it's worth it? I literally just got new tires for it because the ones I had were so goddamn old!
I recently put some KO3 265/75r16’s on my 2005 Tacoma SR5 4x4 V6 with no lift on the stock 16x7 steel rims.
I absolutely LOVE these tires both on and off-road the only thing is I do not care for is the look of the stock rims and am looking into getting the Method 703 16x8. Without wheel spacers will these stick out beyond the wheel well or sit flush like the stock ones I have on there now? I am not liking the flush look. If I need to add wheel spacers to have the Method 703 16x8 stick out I’ll go for it.
Thanks in advance.
Anniversary today and didn't want the Millers to crush the flowers.
Has anyone had this issue where the O2 sensor shows as incomplete and as a result the Cat sensors won’t register and you can’t pass it inspection? I disconnected the battery 3 years ago to install a radio, here we are in 2026 and still not ready. Mechanics tell me I just need to drive it. Been driving for 2 years now.
I have tried the drive cycle multiple times, which is difficult because there aren’t many places you can drive at 65mph and decelerate to 35mph without using the brakes. No check engine lights. I do have a tire pressure light because one of the tpms sensors is bad. Can’t imagine that matters, but full disclosure.
Any ideas? Bad catalytic? I am at wits end and ready to sell it off to one of those places that buys crappy cars.
Searching for my first Taco.
FB Marketplace ad for a 2014 SR5 Access Cab, 5spd manual, 127k miles. Better than average rust for a NY truck. It's the color I want 🤪 Unfortunately (or fortunately?) pretty much exactly what I've been looking for, on paper. Seller has it listed at 15k.
Test drive was great... except the Brake and ABS lights are both on on the dash. (Brakes felt okay on test drive but I didn't slam on them or anything) seller reports wheel bearings, rack, and break lines were done recently.
Here's the rub: seller, my mechanic, and I are at an impasse trying to get the truck in for a check before I decide if I want to purchase. I'm trying not to have blinders on just because this truck is exactly what I want on paper... worth the investment even if there are significant repairs needed, or walk away if I can't get the truck to my mechanic first?
I've thought about buying an OBD scanner and just doing at least that part myself. Should I take a leap of faith, or not let my emotions and the long long search for a truck grind me down?
Any ideas what this box does, and why my headlights glow red even when everything is off? I disconnected it and all the lights still work. Not sure what its purpose is.
