I finished a week on antibiotics on April 25th, and shortly after started having watery diarrhoea several times a day. I sent in a stool test on Friday, and got the results today- tested positive for C diff.

Since sending in the stool test, my diarrhoea has been slightly better - I actually had no diarrhoea (or stool) on Sunday, and only 2 small diarrhoea episodes yesterday, followed by 1 this morning after eating porridge.

My GP said that if you're having less than 4 episodes of diarrhoea a day, then antibiotics actually aren't needed, just monitoring. He prescribed them anyway, as I'm going on holiday on the 16th of May for a week and would like to be able to still go.

However, I've been reading up on side effects etc, which has me a little bit nervous that maybe I'll be dealing with antibiotic side effects on holiday.

My question is, is it true that antibiotics aren't needed if you're having less frequent episodes of diarrhoea?

My red light panel recently arrived and I’ve been trying to get my 11 year old chihuahua under it for a couple of minutes every few days. I’ve been waiting for her to fall asleep, and then putting the blackout goggles that come with the panel on her. However, she immediately wakes up, and starts pawing off the goggles. Has anyone got any (reasonably priced) alternatives that dogs will tolerate? Or does she even need the eye protection?

I had my lobes pierced at the end of June with a reputable piercer using implant-grade titanium flat-back labrets. Everything seemed okay at first, but about a week in I got a bump on my right ear. It settled a bit, I downsized after a few weeks, and then around November–December I started getting recurring bumps on both ears with pus

Since then it’s been a cycle:
- bump forms
- fills with pus
- drains (sometimes with a bit of blood)
- improves
- then comes back again

I’ve tried:
- implant-grade titanium only
- flat-backs for ~7 months
- switching to hoops for ~6 weeks (didn’t help, possibly worse)
- now back to flat-backs
- switching to minimal aftercare (just rinsing in the shower + occasional saline)
- avoiding touching/twisting

I recently saw my GP and was prescribed a 7-day course of Flucloxacillin. While I was on it, things improved a lot, but within about a week of finishing, a bump came back again on my right ear.
(Also worth noting: the antibiotics really messed up my stomach, so I’m quite hesitant to take more.)

At this point I’m confused about what this actually is:
lingering infection that wasn’t fully treated?
irritation that keeps getting re-triggered?
possible sensitivity even though it’s titanium?

I’m also a side sleeper, which I know doesn’t help, but it’s hard to avoid completely.

Right now I have a small inflamed bump again (no huge swelling, but clearly not healed), and I’m trying to decide what to do next.

Options I’m considering:
- trying another treatment through my GP (maybe topical instead of oral antibiotics)
- switching jewellery again (e.g. gold, though expensive and not guaranteed)
- just removing the piercings completely and letting them heal

Has anyone had something like this where it keeps coming back even after antibiotics? Did anything actually fix it, or did you end up removing the piercing?

Would really appreciate any advice.
