I'm doing two sc with one chain in the middle for the corner. My question is do I not do a sc in the stitch before the corner and after as the two sc should make up for the space? Hope this makes sense. Thank you!

Hoping for some guidance. I'm making a rectangular purse but I'm having trouble with getting my corners to be a clean 90°. All single crochet. This is the base and I've slipped stitched on the top to start the walls. I've pulled this apart 3 times as my corners aren't coming out right. I'm doing two sc with chain 1 between. Seems right but I may be doing too many stitches. When you get to the SC at the end, do I skip the last sc and do the two single crochet+ chain right in the corner? Then skip the SC after then continue? It's hard to explain. Thank you!
