The Mirage feels like a strange mix of costume drama, mystery, and sci-fi

The easiest way I can describe The Mirage is: a costume drama on the surface, but with mystery and sci-fi quietly running underneath.

What I liked is that it doesn’t just use those elements as decoration. The longer it goes, the more they start feeling connected, which made it much more interesting to me than I expected.

Do you enjoy “slow payoff” sci-fi, or does it lose you early?

[OC]Doesn't this cloud look just like the Mind Flayer from Stranger Things?

Looking for shows with layered storytelling like 3 Body Problem, especially ones where everything connects over time
