If you could build your own F1 driver, which skill would you prioritize and which are you read to sacrifice a bit?

No driver is perfect. Every top driver has strengths and weaknesses.

Some excel in:

  • raw pace
  • qualifying
  • racecraft
  • tyre management
  • adaptability
  • wet weather skill
  • set up skill
  • instinct
  • consistency under pressure, etc.

And realistically, very few drivers in F1 history were elite at absolutely EVERYTHING at the same time.

So if you had to “build” your ideal F1 driver, which skills would you choose for them to be the absolute best at?

And which skills would you be willing to sacrifice a bit? (as in your driver would only be decent or even below average at it)

Basically what do you think is the most valuable trait in an F1 driver, and which weakness is the easiest to compensate for?

(you have to choose atleast one skill to sacrifice. Maybe even 2 to make it fun
and pls choose 2 or more to excell at)

Being close with lesser experience ≠ automatically becoming better

(This is more of a question to you guys than my actual opinion bcs i am genuinely confused. and i don't mean to challenge any driver's skill)

I feel like F1 fans use the “experience card” in a very inconsistent way.

Whenever a younger/less experienced driver gets close to an established one, people immediately jump to:
“Imagine how good they’ll be with more experience.”
any yes maybe that will be the case but it is not a guarantee?

with George/Kimi in 2026. Kimi is close to George already, that’s incredibly impressive and absolutely says a lot about his talent ceiling. But why does “close with less experience” automatically become “will definitely be better later”?

more prominent example would be lando and oscar last yr.
yes lando had 4 more yrs of experience than oscar but experience mostly improves things like consistency, race management, adaptability, tyre saving. And that ceiling you reach very soon if u r in front running car.

Drivers don’t just gain a few tenths every season forever.

Being close early on proves huge talent and adaptability. It does NOT automatically prove future superiority.

Kimi is very talented but ppl are seriously overestimating him right now. He has a lot to prove, he hasn't proven ENOUGH yet.

Since a large majority of people are saying (and i agree tbf) that max even tho had a very good recovery (like he always does lol) wasn't really deserving of the driver of the day title yesterday and won bcs of popularity. Who do u think actually deserved it?
