Social Media pop-Feminism and "Incel" Stereotypes
The stereotype of the "incel" as this unattractive creepy white male school shooter nazi type who hates women - does not fit the data. Its only a meme that exists online. Not to say those people dont exist - they are out there, however:
Statistically speaking in real life the most common "incel" or "celibate/single" male in the US checks at least 2 of these boxes - is black/brown (darker skin tone), Low income or Working Class, has disabilities, plays a caregiver role for a family member (to grandparent/parent/siblings they live with), etc. Being an angry white male does not correlate with this.
Why is the stereotypical meme image that comes to peoples minds of a lonely single male almost exclusively viewed as angry and white? Or am I wrong in this?
