(I got my first hate call to my college radio show by some older dude hurling insults at me for playing “elevator music”. [How dare I play dream pop on a sunday night…])

So I’m thinking of doing an elevator themed set next just to be a little bit of an ass.

So far I’ve got:

In your opinion, is it worth buying a $150 Bauer 8E Royal Makro if 1 roll of Kodak Super 8 film is $65 these days… I took a Super 8 film & dev class last year and loved it, have been looking for my own camera in local shops since then.

Today I found a Bauer 8E Royal Makro in seemingly great condition, consulted the wiki, and will go back tomorrow to test it. It’s less than the ones I see online and the owner said he was willing to negotiate. If it works I’m tempted to buy it, especially since I imagine they’ll only get more expensive/inaccessible. But I worry about opening the “can of worms” that is buying film these days. I was surprised to see how much super 8 film price has raised since just a year ago.

Ultimately just trying to decide if it’d be worth it to buy this camera with hopes of shooting with it more often in the future when I have a steadier job (I’m a university student) or if that’s a bad decision and I’d be digging myself in a financial hole by further getting into this hobby in this economy.

I’ve always thought, if I could time travel, I’d fill a backpack with rolls of film and then come back to the present with them unexpired….
