Should the electoral college be abolished?

The electoral college is a racist entity that gives white states more per capita voting power than diverse states.

Impact not adding separate channels

I've set up a new impact instrument and added drum sounds to the pads. When I click the option to route these into separate channels, these new channels receive zero signal. All of the drum sounds come through the first impact channel. Looking for advice, not sure what I'm doing wrong. Just want to route drums to their own individual channels.

Question on Marxism and electoral representation as democracy

What is the Marxist take on electoral mechanisms of "democracy" or "parliamentary democracy" as we see in a state such as the U.S.? More broadly, with is the Marxist take on ensuring democracy through an electoral system?

This has been on my mind over the last few days as I learn about how the Republican Party of the U.S. is currently shredding the Voting Rights Act so that they can destroy black voting power in the south.

On the one hand, the American Reconstruction Era demonstrates that black peoples' struggle for the ballot was (and is) and incredibly meaningful peoples' struggle. On the other hand, the ease with which this political system can be engineered to reproduce white supremacy is remarkable.

How do we diagnose and address this problem as Marxists?

A lot of Americans operate under the delusion that the U.S. state -- inclusive of its government and legal systems -- functions as an expression of "we the people." This is demonstrably false. The U.S. is a capitalist country. As such, the U.S. state (inclusive of government and legal system) is owned and operated by the capitalist class to protect their interests against the interests of the poor.

Some examples and easy proofs:

  • The majority of people in the upper echelons of government are extremely wealthy
  • The criminal justice system is designed primarily to protect the property of rich people and disproportionately targets the poor for incarceration
  • Petty theft committed by poor people is punishable by jail. Wage theft committed by rich people is conducted with impunity
  • Big corporations and their owners get lavish government bailouts while poor people go hungry
  • The two-party system makes it virtually impossible for any sort of workers' party gain power
  • The entire legal system was created by rich people to protect their interests
  • Rich people can much more easily get away with "crime" than poor people (Epstein class)
  • Campaign finance laws ensure that rich people have more of a voice than poor people, ensuring that in most cases rich people control who wins elections.
  • Most of the upper echelon of the U.S. government are people who went to Ivy League schools and who were raised from a very young age to operate in the ruling class milieu.
  • The U.S. state invests in extreme militarism and violent imperialism abroad (Iran "war", Gaza genocide) because its corporate ownership class profit from war and imperialism.

In a capitalist state, the ruling capitalist class owns and operates the government and the legal system to protect the class interests of the rich capitalists. This is in no way a "democracy" or even a "republic."

As a broke musician I'm trying to record using amp sim vsts because i don't have gear to record an actual amp. I use guitar rig mainly. The distorted tones in this thing sound so bad to me that they are pretty much unusable. Muddy, fizzy, tiring-to-the-ear sounds literally no one would want to hear; I've tried EQing, compressing, whatever, it all sounds god awful.

Is this product snake oil or is there an actual way to make this sound good?

I will say I can get better results out of clean tones, but anything distorted , esp when playing chords on rhythm guitar sounds like complete ass

So this sucks. I'm a musician who does live music w amps plus recording making use of headphones. Lately I've been getting these pulsations of low pitched "hum" type tinnitus. What especially triggers it are loud headphones or brushing my teeth w an electric tooth brush. In some ways the physical pressure of both those things feels like its part of whats triggering it, though the loudness feels like a factor as well.

One night the low sounds were pulsing right before bed and it was really scary. Almost made it impossible to sleep.

Is being involved in music a risk to make this stuff worse? Recommendations on mitigating this without totally giving up music? Yikes.

When you advocate for better pay the average MAGAt will try to suggest that a low wage worker is a loser who deserves low pay. The reality is that low wage workers do some of the most important jobs in society. MAGA are snobs
