As a patriotic New Jerseyan I generally refuse to support teams that play in Jersey but represent entities in other states (see: the teams that play in Harrison) but I have a certain nostalgic affection for the Cosmos. Thinking about heading up to Paterson for the USL Cup game vs Hartford on June 6th.

It's early but looking at the games on the USL youtube channel...attendance looks a little sparse. Which is fine, plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable on those ancient Hinchliffe Stadium bleachers (not sure if actually ancient or if they put in new bleachers during the renovation.) Can't find any info on concessions, not much fan video for the stadium experience.

Now I'm not saying I am going to do this but the Cosmos have VIP level tickets for $108.60. Section 2. "Includes indoor access, unlimited food, beer & wine." I am having trouble figuring out what "indoor access" might mean. There is a Negro League museum on the property (Hinchliffe is one of the few remaining Negro League ballparks), is that the "indoor access"?

Anyway, any trip reports would be great. Also let me know if I took the train to Paterson if the walk from the station to Hinchliffe would be inviting bodily harm from either the drivers of Paterson or the pedestrians of Paterson. Thanks.

Occasionally I visit Los Angeles, so I have a couple of LA related subs in my feed, including the LA food sub. When an interesting restaurant pops up in my feed, I'll google it to figure out how I'd get there from my hotel, and I'll run across relatively small cities that operate their own bus fleets. "Wait Torrance has a transit agency?" or "Culver has their own buses?", etc.

We in New Jersey have almost none of these local transit agencies, correct? Princeton has one, though it's part of the university and not the town, and that's all I can think of without googling. Well I guess the AC Jitney counts as well, and I'm sure there are a few private commuter lines that go to NYC I'm not familiar with here in South Jersey. I can't think of a public transit agency like the ones in LA County though.

I guess I'm wondering if we do have very few of them (I think I'm right about that, correct me if I am wrong), and why we have so few of them--like what happened in the past to make NJ Transit the only public bus operator in the state. You would think bus services would be improved by cities or groups of cities/towns running local routes and NJ Transit handling trips from one area to another, or to NYC and Philly and shore destinations. But presumably there is no political will to make new transit agencies at this point.

Looking at this article is somewhat illuminating: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NJ_Transit_Bus_Operations --NJ Transit is this Amtrak like entity that absorbed and continues to absorb private bus lines, so that explains why it is the only bus operator. It doesn't explain why our cities and counties never started their own transit agencies, though. Presumably private bus companies gave way to public bus companies across the country--why did cities not take them over in NJ, as opposed to NJ Transit taking them over? Anyway, I've asked more than one question here, just think it's an interesting topic.

I am not a flyer generally but I seem to remember in the past Spirit being basically the only airline at ACY. Now we have Allegiant and Breeze and of course the famous American bus to and from PHL, so maybe the impact of Spirit shutting down won't be that severe? Speculation in the linked article about getting Frontier to come there, or more Allegiant.

Looking at the Allegiant and Breeze route map...well if you want to go to Tampa or Orlando from ACY, you've got options. Not many non Florida options from those two.

First pic is my email, the next two are Instagram. "Qualified guests can enjoy delectable dishes and a full service bar, located on the third floor above Palladium Ballroom." Maybe a real lounge again, and not a repurposed area on the second floor that only serves free pretzels?

I see from googling around now that the CVS/Horizon breakup was supposed to happen April 30th but my local CVS, the only pharmacy I can walk to and the one I've used my entire adult life, refused to fill a prescription at the insurance price on April 20th (and this was something that needs the insurance price to be affordable.) I have tried to use Express Scripts (the online pharmacy that I assume Horizon owns) but they tell me they need more information from my doctor. I let my doctor's office know; usually they get back within 24 hours but now I am waiting two or three days for responses.

If you work in a regular family doctor's office, are you getting slammed with prescription problem requests right now? I consider myself relatively well-informed and the fact that I couldn't get my prescription filled at my local CVS was a bit of a shock. And I do not think my employer (a large health system) made an effort to let me know this was coming. If I got something in the mail I did not notice it (I am bad with opening mail that isn't the occasional check, I will admit to that.) Wondering if lots of doctor's offices are swamped with prescription issues right now. Three million insured by Horizon in state times however many of those people had a CVS as their home pharmacy seems like it has to be a lot of people.

(It's not like I love CVS or anything but, like, it's my town's pharmacy, there is nothing else right there in town.)
