Fan stopped working after update

I don't use my Quest 2 often and I've had it for a few years. But recently I got it out again and everything was working fine. I could hear the fan, and there were no issues. The next morning I used it again and at some point it auto updated. I also want to know that it's probably been a year since the software has been updated. After the update everytime I start the device a warning pops up saying "system alert. The cooling fan on your device isn't functioning properly." I also have not been able to hear the fan at all. I just find it really suspicious that it was working fine up until the update. I contacted support, and they were no help at all. The guy told me that what I was saying made sense, but also denied it being possible. He was also caught up on a whole thing about a software update not being able to physically break a hardware component, but I was never claiming that in the first place. I do think something in the update failed or changed the ability of the fan to function properly, but no, of course an update didn't physically break it. The only solution he gave me was to explore an out of warranty option. I'm frustrated that the solution is to go straight to paying for a replacement. Basically that there are no steps to problem solve or try to fix the issue. I've been out of work for a while now I don't have money to replace this. I asked support if this could be escalated, but he told me that there was nowhere to escalate it to.

I tried restarting, factory reset, installing the latest update with it attached to my laptop, and I still get the fan error message.

Someone on my team sent me several direct messages last night. And then there were also messages sent to a project group. This morning none of those messages are showing up. My responses are, but none of the other messages including the ones in the project. I thought that maybe this was a browser issue but it didn't show up on my phone app and I just downloaded the app version for my computer. I just started using click up. Am I missing something? Does this happen commonly? And has anyone else dealt with this/ ideas for fixes?
