Happy Earth Day! A throwback to Maria Sharapova wearing a custom Iris van Herpen dress that was made using 72% recycled Evian plastic bottles and 28% silk at the 2021 British Fashion Awards
"At a glance, the material might seem heavy, but once you put it on, it’s incredibly light,” says Sharapova. “I’m wearing a corset beneath—which is a first for me—because it’s so lightweight and airy." (source: Vogue)
The plastic bottles used didn't meet traditional recycling standards, so they would've become trash.
