Catherine, the Princess of Wales in Emilia Wickstead and the late Queen’s three-strand pearl necklace at a Buckingham Palace reception for Queen Elizabeth’s 100 birthday. A gift from her father, it was a favorite of the Queen’s, and she wore it for final portrait (2022, by Ranald Mackechnie).
The original necklace (pictured on Catherine and Elizabeth) was a gift from Elizabeth’s father, King George VI. She had several identical replicas made so as not to “exhaust” the original. The Queen wore a pearl necklace for nearly every engagement across 70 years, calling it part of her “official uniform,” and although she had several sentimental pearl necklaces (including one from her grandfather, King George V in 1935 during his Silver Jubilee), Elizabeth considered the gift from her father to be her favorite.
Queen Camilla and Princess Anne also wore pearl necklaces in honor of the late monarch.
The guest list included other centenarians celebrating their 100th birthdays.
Catherine also wearing Queen Elizabeth’s Bahrain pearl drop earrings that she wears frequently and Ralph Lauren pumps.
