Seeing a local production of Into The Woods this Friday

And it just occurred to me that I have to get through “No One is Alone” without making a fool of myself.

Has this happened to you? Bawling over a song in the theater? I know there’s more than one Sondheim song that would do this to me.

Seasons you can’t enjoy until half way through

I’m watching season 12 on LOGO. The early episodes have their moments, but the Brita vs Aiden drama makes me uncomfortable. And the final 6 or 7 are SO strong, some of my favorites ever. Love Jackie and my hometown gal Jaida.

Is there a season for you where you’re waiting for certain people to go so you can relax and enjoy?

Perrier Maison - pick a lane!

She’s playing footsie with some guy’s sock, then she’s dressed identically to a dog, then she’s guzzling the product so hard it’s drooling down the side of her face.

It’s just weird. And it’s not making me thirsty.

What Generation did your parents belong to?

And how has it affected your frame of reference or how you grew up as Gen Jones?

Mine were the Silent Generation, I recently found out. I’d here stories about them growing up during the Depression and WWII when everything was rationed. My mom got in trouble for using all the sugar for a cake.

I have classic old time radio references from them that none of my friends could relate to. Kay Kaiser and his Kollege of Musical Knowledge. Fibber McGee and Molly. Life of Riley. Julie London when she was a singer not a nurse. Spike Jones.

And my mom dressed me in 1973 like it was 1955. Cardigan sweater with the top button buttoned, for instance. I looked like a dork. Loud polyester outfits that my grandmother sewed for me. Thanks for thinking of me grandma, but…

To top it off, my dad was at the tail end of his Navy career. So my parents move several times so I was always the new kid. Couple that with being out of step with fashion much of the time. I was a weird kid.

I just got a senior discount

I didn’t ask for it, and I didn’t realize I’d gotten it until I got home.

It’s the reverse of when I was 16 and got in to a movie in the junior discount because they thought I was 12.

I suddenly feel quite old.

My own personal folk revival

I blame these guys. When was the concert? 1982? I played that record until I wore it out. I got all of their albums. I branched out to Arlo Guthrie and John Prine and others. I even went to see Simon and Garfunkel when they went on tour after this concert. Saw them at our baseball stadium. I miss stadium concerts

Anyone else go off on this particular musical tangent?

I’m watching from Facebook while Kirk seems to purposely be acting like a Progressive Trump.

Do we really need a joke candidate who’s syphoning donations away from serious candidates? Like Hong maybe?

We’re these things in an episode of Mysterious Traveler? If so, what’s the name of the episode?

I need to climb out of the Wayback Machine before I annoy y’all. But first a couple of young adult books that I had to describe to Google to find. I bet they don’t even print these anymore.

But somehow they remained in my brain all these years later. I think I was about 12 years old, and they were old even then.

I had such a crush on this kid when I was… what, 10?

Looking at it now I’m not entirely sure why.

I was searching for “Law and Order” game streams on Twitch. Found a guy that has me concerned. I’m waiting for him to make the news in a bad way.

He uses his stream to disseminate his reality, that postal workers are of the devil, that some sort of dark magic is being aimed at him through 911. Somehow his family is involved in this conspiracy. His streams consist of showing his living room, post it notes everywhere, or his bedroom or his bathroom. A link to his Google docs with more of his proof. Very obviously mentally ill

I should probably just ignore, and continue my search. But I wasn’t expecting to be invited into his psychosis on Twitch of all places. I don’t suppose there’s anything I can do to make sure he doesn’t hurt anyone, is there?

Is this type of thing more common on Twitch than I realize? Maybe I’m naive.

My tastes as a person in my 20’s was sometimes sorta weird. Pre-YouTube, I’d visit websites like ThreeBrain and others and watch stuff like “Gonads and Strife” or “I’m Eating a Monkey Salad” or “Devil Doll and Radiskull”

Or these guys. Presenting TISM (This Is Serious Mum) and “Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me”.

Would this stuff fit in with Gen Jones? Or is it more a Gen X thing? Or am I just really weird?
