MacBook Neo or Air M2/3 for a moderate user?
Hi,
recently I decided that I’d like to replace my well-functioning but over-a-decade-old Dell Latitude E6330.
I mainly use my laptop for creating presentations in Canva, writing university papers, and I’m planning to start online tutoring. Other than that, I’m a fairly average internet user. It would also be nice to play some less demanding games, which my Dell doesn’t allow. I own an iPad, so screen sharing and easy copying of text and files between devices are important to me, especially since I create a lot of presentations.
Prices on the Polish market!!
My options:
MacBook Neo – $700 with a student discount. Downsides: no backlit keyboard (I often work at night), smaller screen than the base MacBook Air, no Touch ID.
MacBook Air 13.6” M2, 16GB RAM, 256GB – $918
Slightly larger screen (not by much, but noticeable). More powerful processor, likely to last longer than the MacBook Neo, although it’s a bit older. Backlit keyboard.
- MacBook Air 15” M3, 8GB RAM / 256GB – $900
Larger screen, newer processor but less RAM. The catch is that it’s being sold by an authorized reseller, but I’m not sure about the store’s reliability because it has poor reviews.
I’d like to buy something that will last me for years. I know I’m not a demanding user, but I’m wondering if it’s worth spending a bit more to get something better than the Neo. The MacBook M4 is out of the question, because with my level of usage I can’t justify spending $1100 on it. Or maybe I should just stick with my Dell—what do you think?
