Has anyone looked into Akkermansia and the gut lining / oral-gut axis?
I’ve been reading a lot lately about how the microbiome affects overall wellness and came across a lot of discussion around Akkermansia muciniphila. It’s a bacterium that lives in the mucus layer of the gut and seems to play a role in supporting the intestinal barrier and the connection between oral and gut health. I found a interesting overview that explains the science in a pretty straightforward way, the microbiome hub stuff, natural food-based approaches like polyphenols, resistant starch, etc. If you’re curious, check out Next Microbiome akkermansia-based gut lining support, it was one of the clearer reads I found. I’m not looking for personal medical advice or anything, just wondering if others here have come across research or experiences related to this specific bacterium. The oral-gut axis part especially caught my attention.
Would love to hear any thoughts or what you’ve read about it. Thanks!
