prior to fourth grade i have less than 10 childhood memories. everything i know from that time is things ive been told or seen in pictures. i genuinely thought this was how everyone was until i was about 17. ive been trying to figure out why this is. apparently bipolar can be linked to long term memory loss. due to manic and depressive episodes affecting the brains ability to form memories, trauma, or dissociation. since the disorder changes the brain it can affect a persons memory. i thought that was really interesting and for my experience it makes a lot of sense.
i was wondering if anyone else has a similar experience! i felt really alone and confused about this for so long. i hope this post can make someone else feel less alone that experiences memory loss as well.
