halfasiaspring- recent meetup events

I saw a lot of snark on the fake ABG tech meetup but haven’t seen anyone start the wasian gatherings in SF and NYC.

While it’s great that they have been able to be celebrated, I watched a TikTok from Mad Tsai, an Asian Latino artist, who discussed why it leaves a weird taste

Why is it called “half Asia” when only half Asian and half white people are being celebrated? Why couldn’t other half Asians be highlighted?

The event heavily talked about being half Asian from what I heard so it was very odd to highlight Asianess but treat whiteness like a default (btw treating whiteness as ‘the default’ DOES encourage white supremacy & orientalism). In addition, to exclude other mixed Asian groups and focus only on wasian phenotypes.

Obligatory “I have a wasian partner and wasian family members” so I don’t get anti-mixed race accusations (funny how small brained people love to jump to this accusation). Oh and OS commenters can gtfo too.

Like we all know she has one right? I saw a video of her at Met Gala and it was captioned “Vera Wang looks incredible” and I genuinely don’t think she seems okay.

Does anyone in her personal life take any actions to help her? Like I hope she can still achieve a healthy weight at 76 years old😭

Random rant but this show is perfect at creating annoying characters but the only thing more annoying than the main cast is the fanbase. Blair Waldorf bootlickers are annoying as fuck because they can’t ever admit she was in the wrong many times...

In summary, Kuang criticizes colonialism in her previous works a lot, so it’s come out that she writes an Israeli character in a positive light in her new book according to ppl who got an ARC. However, I would prefer to read the work myself before jumping to accusing her of normalizing israel or allowing their soft power in our literature.

I don’t really know what caused it. I’ve had a pretty great childhood but with some struggles at age 5 and 7 (moving countries and grandpas death).

When I was 10 I stopped smiling, according to my mom. Which I was aware of but I also just didn’t know why.

The most reasonable answer I can think of is being aware that my family planned to move again (and yes my life went way downhill after that but that’s beyond the time frame I’m talking about)

I don’t have any repressed memories and I’m incredibly confident in saying this. I just can’t seem to understand why I woke up one day with this awful pit inside me and it never fully went away.

Yes mods, this is relevant because Jubilee is ran by Asian Americans.

If you don’t know Jubilee, its that YouTube channel that does videos like:

1 Israeli vs 20 Pro Palestine Activists

Pro-ICE vs Anti ICE

1 Progressive vs 20 Far Right Conservatives

If you truly think their videos are for the purpose of “creating conversation, new perspectives” you are deadass so naive. Our country is sliding closer to fascism and videos like Jubilee’s just normalize it. There’s no reason to be “neutral” or profiting off of fascism.

I get her frustrations from the recent incident (Twitter incels finding out she has a white Latino bf), but her and Chris are both so fucking annoying. Chris made some weirdo ass comments and he prob was waiting on Eunnuri’s downfall but Eunnuri needs to stop giving a fuck abt him.

I’m not sure what her issue is with the second guy and Becca but I wanted to talk about her and Chief Kweef. I specifically remember when Chief’s mild take on Hmart was taken way out of context, and Eunnuri was being all passive aggressive in Princess Paul and other creators’ comments when they were dogging on Chief. Yet she never specifically said what Chief was sooo wrong about. Just a bunch of snarky comments about Chief being ignorant. And when Yuki was exposed, Eunnuri backed off on being passive aggressive. So Eunnuri, you know damn well why Chief commented.
