Her self hatred is always on display

Here she is dancing up on a stranger in an obvious attempt to humiliate someone in a larger body as a performance for the “cool” (skinny) kids she’s with. It’s honestly insane behavior not only as a person who’s been many sizes, but as someone who IS AN INFLUENCER. You know that cameras are on you. You know that you have a large audience. She is CRUEL.

This is a small moment, but it just got to me..

Coachella is starting to feel dystopian.

It’s just so crazy to me that these influencers are all “peace, love, sustainability, liberal values” online, but then they’re out there partnering with brands that are literally destroying the planet. Like which is it?

They get flown out, handed hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars in free merch they don’t even need (like they don’t already have so much??), and still look miserable half the time. Meanwhile everyone else is just watching like… what are we even doing here?

It all feels so performative and out of touch. I hate it here. (Yes, I’m jealous)

Phoebe Gates says no Gates ties in Phia, yet the entire TikTok strategy is basically “Bill Gates’ daughter” bait

Phoebe Gates keeps insisting she wants her app Phia to stand on its own, completely separate from her last name and privilege. Cute in theory. In practice, not so much.

The marketing is basically a copy and paste operation across TikTok. A wave of micro influencers all posting videos where they do not even speak, just on-screen text with identical captions like “Kris Jenner just backed this app” and “Hailey Bieber knew exactly what she was doing.” It is all clearly being handed to them, because everyone is using the exact same wording. Scroll for 30 seconds and it becomes painfully obvious this is not organic hype, it is coordinated down to the captions and fully dictated by Phia.

And then there’s the pièce de résistance: influencers being spoon-fed captions that explicitly name-drop Bill Gates. We’re talking “Why is no one talking about Bill Gates’ daughter’s app?” and “So who was going to tell me Bill Gates’ daughter made the most genius app EVER.”

So let’s get this straight. Phoebe is supposedly trying to distance Phia from the Gates name while simultaneously directing influencers to use Bill Gates as clickbait. You could not write a clearer contradiction if you tried.

You cannot have it both ways. Either the app succeeds on its own merit, or it leans on billionaire name recognition for engagement. Pretending it is the former while clearly doing the latter just makes the whole thing look even more manufactured.

Phoebe Gates' company is not fixing shopping.

They 1) are not incentivized to give you the best price on their app. 2) less sustainable than they appear. 3) collecting your data - to probably eventually sell it! Anyone here use Phia?

is coachella still relevant?

maybe it’s just me but coachella feels so… over

idk it used to feel like coachella was cool, music was cool, people were cool, styles were fun… there was kinda taste in it, now it just feels tacky and miserable. people spending all that money just to wait in lines all day… bathrooms, showers, food, drinks. ubers are a mess… everything is crowded and annoying. you’re basically stressed the whole time just trying to function and then you get there and it’s a bunch of random influencers thinking they are actual celebrities except no one knows who they actually are outside of their tiktok bubble.

and the fashion this year is really painful. it’s not even bad in an interesting way, it’s just tacky and costume like. no creativity involved in any of the looks I saw and everybody just looks the same.

even the lineup feels off. like sabrina headlining? idk, she’s obviously big but she’s everywhere. it doesn’t feel special at all. it’s like going to mcdonalds, you can have it whenever. i guess justin bieber at least has some rarity now he doesn’t tour etc.

i honestly kind of feel bad for people going to this. unless a brand is paying me a lot of money and arranging an awesome airbnb with shuttles and artist passes… it just doesn’t seem worth it and uninteresting.

it’s crazy how it went from “i wish i could be there” to “you’d have to pay me to endure this torture”.

i guess halley kate was so right in not going and like just going to minnesota lol

Petition to temp ban anyone who is clearly following an influencer when they post screenshots

This is a snark snub, not a fandom. If you are following any of these people, hi it’s you you’re the problem it’s you.

Worst Coachella outfits

I honestly love Coachella because it really exposes the influencers who have no sense of style. What are these pac sun fits.

Elysia Berman shopping habits

Curious about this influencer. She was previously and recently in like 50k of debt. Was impressed by her open and honest story of how she clawed her way out, but I’m a bit confused about her narrative shift. She seems to be shopping and acquiring new (really) expensive things on the daily. Has she spoken about changes to her no buy philosophy?
