My brother spent 4 hours on a Sunday fixing a GST mistake his CA found — this is the reality of freelancing in India nobody talks about

My brother is a freelance data analyst. Last month his CA called him on a Sunday saying the IGST he charged a Mumbai client was wrong — should've been CGST+SGST since they're both in Gujarat.

He had to manually redo 3 invoices, recalculate everything in Excel, and resend them before Monday.

This isn't a one-off. Every month-end it's the same chaos — which client is in which state, what rate applies, export the right format for the CA, chase pending payments.

I genuinely didn't realize how broken this workflow was until I watched him do it.

For people here who freelance or run a small business — how are you handling GST invoicing? Are you doing it manually in Excel, using a CA, or found something that actually works?

Curious what the real workflow looks like for most people.
