Chrome Quality Issues _ My Two Cents...

I picked up a Chrome Kadet Mini last year & it's become my daily since then, has been through multiple countries, carried a load of weight, been out in the rain and the cold. I cycle with it, I get public transport (occassional buses and trains) and use it while riding my motorbike and I often throw it on othe back seat of the car. About 6 months ago I added a stabilizer strap (that I occassionally use) and a metal seatbelt buckle... Since using it I carry my tech pouch and ear clips all the time, and that just makes my life better. It hasn't leaked and is still in great condition...

So, my point is... I haven't experienced the poor quality people keep bringing up here. I'm sure my case isn't isolated. Still a great brand, still great designs and from my perspective, still great quality...

Technician Scratches

I had my pick-ups changed out by a local shop... This place has a good reputation for high end guitars, which is why I chose them. But when I got the guitar back it had a couple of new scratches (was in near perfect condition prior), I'm assuming they didn't cover the paint when they cut the strings. I tried to just ignore them, but honestly the longer it goes on the angier I get... It doesn't take much effort to put a towel over that paint when cutting strings, and if I wanted a bad job done I would've done it myself, not pay someone else to do it...

If I raise it with the shop, what could I possibly get out of it except awkward interactions if I ever go back in again...

NPD - new pick-ups days...

I've just added some Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz pick-ups to the Les Paul... The tonal difference is more subtle than expected, but it scrubs off the softness and (to my ear) ads a slightly sharper, more defined tone. The difference between the neck and bridge is very clear, the Jazz being quieter and softer, which plays into exactly what I was looking for.

I got the anniversary set, so there's no coil splitting, again, keeping the guitar simple... They also don't have any big branding or logos printed on them.

I love how the zebra look changes this guitar. It's looking less country and western and more 90s alternative...

I think I'm the wrong demographic...

I never need to carry a spare frame or entire second bicycle in everyday life.. I feel like I need to get a bike frame to attach to my bag, a bit like how people put HeroClips on their bags...

My bike lives outside in the rain & the odometer went dead last year... I can still see my speed and the warning lights work, but can't get any of the digital readouts like gear changes (don't care) and odometer....

Will the phone interface allow me to read mileage from the bike? or has that info been lost along with the digital display?
