Hi guys,

On Saturday (25th of April), my two year old Russian tortoise ate some Madagascar Jasmine. We took him to the vet on Wednesday (29th of April) as he had some tremo. They gave him some fluids.

We booked an appointment for Thursday morning for some more fluids therapy, but ended up going again on Thursday night and he started opening his mouth to breathe.

My tortoise ended up staying at the vet overnight from Thursday to Monday morning (yesterday). Over that time, they gave him fluids, force fed him, oxygen therapy and some relaxation medication.

We brought him home yesterday, as expected he’s just been sleeping. He’s still not eating or pooping. This morning left a larger plate with some food (small amount), but he’s shown little interest, all of a sudden he started spasming like crazy. Is this normal behaviour considering everything that’s happened? We have another appointment in two days from now.

Hi guys,

A few days ago I posted on here regarding my tortoise eating a Madagascar Jasmine (thank you to everyone who answered as well). For context, he ingested the plant on the 25th of April.

Hi everyone,

On Sunday night my two year old russian tortoise ate some star jasmine. Sunday and Monday he was okay, but Tuesday I noticed a decrease in his appetite. He still pooped on Tuesday and ate a little bit on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. He didn’t poop Wednesday.

I took him to the vet yesterday (Wednesday) and this morning. The vet said he’s hydrated, a good weight, and reactive, but they gave him a fluid treatment for both visits.

My question is: will he be okay? How do I increase his appetite? I’m so worried about him

Edit: he did had some head tremors yesterday afternoon before the vet, but since he hasn’t had any. The vet also gave us two syringes so we could orally administrate some food.
