Hi, I got my Russian tortoise almost two months ago. The pet store told me she is around 5–8 months old. She has always been active and a good eater.
My previous schedule was overnight, so when I got home at 7 AM, I would turn on her lights and prepare her food. By the time I woke up around 2 PM, most or all of the food I left out would be gone, and she would usually be back asleep.
Recently, I started working a second job, and my schedule became inconsistent. A few times, I accidentally left the lights on overnight, or I forgot to turn them on in the morning and didn’t remember until the afternoon. Then I realized the heat bulb had blown after noticing she was sleeping more than usual. She always slept a lot, but now she isn’t even getting up to eat, which is new.
I’ve since bought a thermometer and a timer to keep everything consistent. However, all last week (after the heat lamp went out), she slept a lot and wasn’t waking up to eat, and it has continued into this week.
I read that this could be due to disrupting her natural pattern, and I was wondering if the cooler temperatures caused her to go into a hibernation-like state. However, she is under a year old, and I’ve read that they typically should not hibernate at this age.
Throughout the week, I’ve been waking her up to soak her and hand-feed her. When I do, she moves normally, eats well, and explores like usual. But if I don’t wake her up, she won’t get up on her own.
I was planning to take her to the vet today, but I don’t currently have a car, and the reptile vet is far. I wanted to ask for opinions before spending the money. I did read that sometimes Russian tortoises behave this way and that it may not always be a concern.
I’ve attached videos from today showing her eyes (I’m not sure if they look puffy, especially since I had just woken her up) and her eating and walking around. She also had a normal bowel movement.
I typically feed her spring mix and/or collard greens. Today, I gave her cilantro and collard greens, which she seemed to enjoy. Is it possible that she’s just being a picky eater?
Sorry for the long message.

Enclosure advice

I recently bought this garden bed as an enclosure for my tort! I need suggestions on a “lid” for the top so he can’t climb out. Everything I see online is meant for rectangular shaped gardens, none for this shape. Help please!
