1993 3000GT Parking Brake Shoe

I posted earlier about some tricks on doing the breaks and it went well thank you. My question is though do I NEED to change both sides? The reason I changed one is because the padding part was cracked, but the other side was fine. Normally I would if they are uneven but they actually seem about the same amount of padding and the car is automatic. It would obviously be best to change both but I’d rather not change something if I don’t need to since it’s an old car and I don’t want to run into more problems by accident. I added pics of both sides (the one i just did and the one i haven’t touched). Thoughts?

Parking brake on 1993 3000GT

Im trying to replace the parking brake shoes on my 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT. I’m changing the shoe itself plus all the springs etc but can’t seem to get it in place and was just wondering if anyone has any tips. I’ve included a bunch of pictures because not the best at explaining but I am basically trying to push a pin through a ring that holds it and the spring in place. The pin goes from the back of the brakes, through the parking shoe, to the front where I need put a spring and the ring that holds it in place. I know WHAT i need to do but just can’t seem to actually get it in place. It doesn’t help that my wheel assembly is in the way as well. I’ve been stuck trying to get it in for a while now and haven’t made any progress. I’ve never seen these parking brake pins use a spring before so I was just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks that have helped them in the past.I’ve included pics on what it originally looked like, how it’s supposed to look like, and where i’m trying to put it together but if you need any more information please lmk. Thanks in advance.
