Accounting Program

I have offers from both TMU and UTSC for accounting. For TMU it's the BCom and for UTSC it's the BBA both co-op and I don't know which one I should pick.

I've heard UTSC is harder than TMU due to the "prestige" of the university. Also since this isn't Rotmans in my eyes, I feel as if getting the degree from UTSC wouldn't matter so much more than getting it from TMU.

Basically, I feel as if the harder workload, more expensive tuition, and likely lower GPA isn't worth going to UTSC

The thing is TMU would be about a 40 minute commute by bus and train for me whereas UTSC would be a 15 minute car ride.

So basically I am uncertain as to what to do and I would appreciate some input.

Would UTSC be that much harder to get a good GPA in than TMU?

Are Co-ops better at UTSC than TMU?

Any input would be appreciated.

Ontario Tech vs TMU Accounting

I have offers from TMU and Ontario tech for a BCom in accounting with Co-op. As of right now I am unsure as to which one I should choose. I would love some input on what the better choice would be.

For TMU I will have to take a 40-50 minute commute switching between multiple trains and buses, for Ontario tech, the commute will probably be more like 2 hours for me.

The main thing that I'm thinking about is the fact that the Ontario tech course is more geared towards you finishing your degree in 4 years whereas TMU is more towards 5 years.

In my eyes, even though there is a longer commute, I feel as if the fact that I might be able to graduate faster, and maybe easier at Ontario Tech makes it worth considering.

Basically, what I want to know is if the coop, school experience, and opportunities are that much greater at TMU to make it worth going there instead of Ontario Tech.

Any input would be appreciated.

TMU accounting program

As of right now I am in between going to TMU or Ontario tech for a BCom for accounting degree. I would love some input to make my final decision, if anyone could answer the following questions it would be greatly appreciated.

How hard is the degree at TMU? (Course load, exams)

How is the social life? ( I will be commuting)

How are the teachers?

How is the Coop?

Is TMU a better choice for accounting than Ontario tech?

Ontario Tech Accounting Program

I recently got accepted into Ontario Tech's accounting program (BCom), as of right now my choices are either TMU or Ontario Tech. To help make a final decision I would love some answers to the following questions.

How hard is the degree? (course load, exams)

What is the social life like, I plan on commuting.

What are the teachers like?

How is the Coop?

Would Ontario tech be a better option for accounting then TMU?

Any input would be appreciated.

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Preferably near $1000 but willing to go up to $1300 - $1400. (Canadian)
  • Are you open to refurbs/used? Preferably no.
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? I want a good screen and god battery life, everything else can be worked around.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you? I would prefer a thinner laptop, but if not possible I'm ok with a bigger one.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15-14 inches
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Apps like Excel for accounting and just Netflix and YouTube for watching tv.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I just want a good screen, not 45% NTSC, and a good battery life and preferably good build quality.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I don't want the laptop for any intensive gaming, I'm buying it for accounting school so ill mostly just be running software like excel, but I also want to be able to use my laptop to watch TV and have it be an enjoyable experience while not needing to be plugged into a wall constantly.
  • NO MACBOOKS I've heard they are a bad choice for accounting.
  • Any input would be appreciated

I'm going to school for accounting next year and I need to buy a computer.

Due to the fact that I'm doing accounting I don't really an insane computer, or a gaming PC.

All I really want from my computer is a good screen so I can watch movies and tv shows on it and good battery life as I don't want to be constantly plugged into a wall at university.

I originally had a budget in mind of $1000 CND but was having trouble finding a laptop that had both a good screen and battery as most laptops near this price range either had screens that were 45% NTSC which I've heard bad things or just bad battery life, so I am willing to stretch it to say about 1300-1400 CND, preferably on the lower end if possible.

I do not want a MacBook as they don't seem to be the optimal choice for accounting.

Any input would be helpful.

I want to buy a MacBook Neo for accounting school as there is basically no laptop I can find that comes close to the Neo at its price range (Brand New). The only thing I'm concerned about is longevity of the MacBook.

Basically, since the MacBook only has 8gb of RAM and 256 GB storage, I am worried that in the future the MacBook will not last.

I'm not doing anything that intensive just spreadsheets and all that since I'm in accounting.

So I have to ask, would the MacBook Neo realistically last for say roughly the next 5 years and not become annoyingly slow or something to use?

(I have a desktop computer at home for any apps that might not run on the Mac, I just want a light portable machine I can take to uni with me).

I am going to TMU next year for the BCom degree. I don't have a laptop right now and need one.

I wanted a laptop with a good screen and battery life which fit the MacBook Neo. Considering I can get it for $679 (Student Discount) there is no laptops that I can find that can even come close to matching the MacBook at that price range.

I've heard bad things about MacBooks and that you shouldn't but a MacBook for anything buisness related due to not being able to run programs, excel, etc but, I also have a desktop computer at home.

So I have to ask anyone who has taken accounting or a business degree at TMU, would I be fine buying a MacBook if I had a windows PC at home? The main thing I'm worried about is maybe not being able to follow lessons properly or something.
