US authorities are moving to end fraud cases against Gautam Adani

US authorities are moving to resolve the fraud charges against Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, according to people familiar with the matter, and end a criminal case that’s hung over Asia’s richest person for more than a year.

The Justice Department may announce that they’re dropping the charges as soon as this week, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing a confidential matter. The Securities and Exchange Commission is also moving to settle a parallel civil fraud case it brought against Adani and others in November 2024, some of the people said.

Ending the cases would be a significant boon to the Adani Group, one of India’s most powerful companies, whose interests range from coal mining to renewable energy and airports. It also clears the decks for the conglomerate to return to international capital markets and resume its aggressive expansion strategy.

India Rejects Russian LNG Cargo Amid US Sanction Risks Despite Middle East Energy Crisis

India Rejects Russian LNG Cargo Amid US Sanction Risks Despite Middle East Energy Crisis

➠ India has reportedly declined Russia’s offer to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) linked to US sanctions despite ongoing energy supply concerns caused by Middle East tensions.

➠ According to reports, the rejected shipment originated from Russia’s sanctioned Portovaya LNG plant in the Baltic Sea. The LNG tanker Kunpeng, which had earlier indicated India’s Dahej terminal as its destination, is now reportedly stranded near Singapore without a confirmed unloading port.

➠ Officials allegedly informed Russia during talks on April 30 that India wants to avoid sanctioned LNG cargoes because of compliance risks, though it remains open to buying non-sanctioned Russian energy supplies.

➠ India continues to import Russian crude oil under limited conditions, but LNG imports linked to sanctions remain suspended amid stricter international monitoring and regulations.

Madhya Pradesh Govt is again in the news for taking LOAN.

The Mohan Yadav government is taking loan after loan from the market.

Reported borrowings in 2026 alone:

January: ₹4,000 crore
February: ₹15,800 crore
March: ₹9,900 crore
April: ₹4,600 crore
May: ₹1,800 crore

Total: ₹36,100 crore in just 5 months.

At the same time, the government is increasing spending on schemes like Ladli Behna, with reports mentioning huge allocations and future hikes.

Question is simple:

Is MP borrowing for real development, or borrowing to fund political freebies?

Bihar CM says persons excluded in SIR won't get welfare benefits, passbooks to be cancelled: Report

After West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Bihar has also said that persons deleted during the special intensive revision of electoral rolls will not receive welfare benefits, The Indian Express reported.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary told the newspaper that the persons “will not be entitled to any government benefits, including ration and other welfare schemes”.

Choudhary was also quoted as saying that bank passbooks of persons excluded from the voter list would also be cancelled “in due course of time”. It is unclear whether an order has been passed to this end.

Choudhary replaced Nitish Kumar as the chief minister on April 15.

In July, the Election Commission told the Supreme Court that persons will not cease to be Indian citizens only on the grounds that they were found ineligible to vote under the electoral roll revision exercise.

'Please speed up my returns': Rahul's witty reply to his Modi supporting mutual funds manager

In between his barbs at BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's humorous response to his mutual fund manager's earnest X post has gone viral.

Chennai-based mutual fund distributor and finfluencer Muthukrishnan Dhandapani revealed in his X post that he has been managing the Congress leader's mutual fund investments since 2013, despite being an outspoken Modi supporter on social media. He said Rahul and his team always respected professional boundaries and never mixed politics with work.

The Congress leader reposted Dhandapani's post with a deft touch of humour: “Muthu ji, your political views are your own—but please do speed up the returns on my investments.”

"Pleasantly surprised with your response," wrote Dhandapani in response.

Kolkata Police Arrests Activist Garga Chatterjee for Posts on EVM Tampering

City Police’s Cyber Crime cell has arrested activist Garga Chatterjee on the basis of a complaint registered by the Election Commission, for making what it has deemed were provocative and inciteful posts during the assembly election period.

The first information report alleges that Chatterjee spread misinformation on electronic voting machines or EVMs used in polls.

Chatterjee, a neuroscientist by profession, is the founder of Bangla Pokkho, a group that aims to promote Bengali culture and identity, and opposes the cultural ingress of Hindi in Bengal.

Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nanda told reporters today that the complaint had been filed by the District Election Officer (DEO) North of the ECI. Anandabazar Patrika quoted Nanda as having said, “He [Chatterjee] had claimed that EVM manipulation was taking place. His posts created misconceptions among political parties and spread confusion. He also called upon political parties to launch protests. This led to rumours spreading everywhere.”

Nanda claimed that Chatterjee did not appear before police despite two notices.

It is not clear as to which specific remarks led to the complaint being filed against him.

Tamil Nadu CM Vijay's astrologer appointed his Officer on Special Duty

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has appointed his long-time personal astrologer, Radhan Pandit Vettrivel, as the political Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the CM. An official government order issued Tuesday confirmed the appointment, effective from the date of joining.

Radhan Pandit is a prominent Vedic astrologer and numerologist, with no prior administrative experience, similar to most leaders from the TVK, including the CM. He has more than four decades of experience as an astrologer and has been a close adviser to Vijay for several years. His post-poll appearance at Vijay’s residence earlier caught the eyes of the public.

Radhan Pandit has guided the actor-turned-politician at several crucial junctures in his political journey. In 2024 and early 2025, he publicly analysed Vijay’s horoscope in videos and interviews, predicting a strong rise for the newly formed Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

He earlier also described Vijay’s astrological chart as having “tsunami-like strength” and noted that the party name aligned powerfully with Vijay’s numerological profile. Besides, he forecasted that it would challenge and eventually disrupt the dominance of traditional Dravidian parties.

State government cancels medical council elections after BJP-backed panel's defeat.

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the medical community, the Maharashtra government has decided to abolish the election process for the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC). Instead of the traditional system where doctors elect their representatives, the state will now move to a 100% nominated body. The cabinet has already approved amendments to increase the council size from 18 to 23 members—all of whom will be hand-picked by the government.

The timing of this decision has sparked massive political outrage. The amendment was fast-tracked immediately after the BJP-backed "Official IMA MMC Panel" suffered a crushing defeat in the April elections. While the government claims this shift will make the council "more efficient" like the National Medical Commission (NMC), doctors' organizations see it as a direct attempt to seize control of an autonomous institution. The Supreme Court had previously refused to halt the April elections, but this new legislative move effectively bypasses the democratic results, leaving the newly elected winners in a state of uncertainty.

Election Results (The Winners):
Despite the government's move to cancel the system, the following candidates emerged victorious in the recent (and potentially final) election:

- Top Scorer: Dr. Sanjay Sahebrao Kadam (Nanded)
- Pune’s Voice: Dr. Sunil Madhavrao Ingale (Winner)
- Close Call: Pune's Dr. Sanjay Patil lost by a razor-thin margin of just 3 votes.

The Winning Nine:
- Kadam Santosh Appasaheb
- Kadam Sanjay Sahebrao
- Nikam Nilesh Vasantrao
- Deshpande Sanjay Ganeshrao
- Ingale Sunil Madhavrao
- Patil Anilkumar Bhaskar
- Gulwade Mangesh Madhukar
- Karad Ujjawala Kishanrao
- Pachnekar Anil Shankar

A surprise inspection plan leaked within minutes. What followed led Damoh Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav to suspect that confidential conversations inside his office were being intercepted through a tampered telephone connection.

After quietly testing his suspicion, officials allegedly found that audio from the Collector’s chamber could be heard in the adjacent PA room through a telephone receiver. The incident has triggered a wider investigation into an alleged surveillance and information leak network operating inside the Collectorate.

Three employees have faced suspension, transfer or removal, while seized telephone sets are now under forensic examination. Officials are also probing whether confidential administrative information was being shared outside for personal gain or to help individuals avoid scrutiny.

Madhya Pradesh HC quashes FIR against teacher who shared Urdu poem as WhatsApp status

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has quashed a first information report against a government school teacher from Betul district for sharing a video of an Urdu poem as his WhatsApp status, The Indian Express reported on Sunday.

In the order on April 30, Justice BP Sharma observed that “sharing a poetic recitation, without any additional commentary or intent to incite, cannot be construed as promoting enmity or public mischief”, according to Live Law.

He added that criminal liability in speech-related offences could not be imposed merely based on “subjective perceptions or speculative apprehensions” and required clear evidence of incitement or disruption of public order.

"Why No Arrest for Anil Ambani?"

"Why is nobody arresting the alleged kingpin?"

That explosive question echoed inside the Supreme Court as Advocate Prashant Bhushan pointed to ED, CBI, and SEBI findings in the alleged ₹27,000+ crore Yes Bank–Anil Ambani-linked scam. Bhushan argued that while lower-level functionaries are behind bars, the “main accused” remains untouched—calling the treatment a “holy cow” beyond arrest.

The Court, however, made its position clear:

● Courts are “extremely shy” in directing arrests.

● The goal is evidence and fair process—not a spectacle.

● Serious allegations do not equal automatic arrest.
