What is everyone’s absolute favorite artifact?

Bowl with Human Feet is mine! I even made a replica in my ceramics class so I could have it on my shelf 😭 there’s just something so beautifully human about it, it makes my heart so glad.

My trans girlies!! I have some helpful passing tips for you, as a cis ally girl!

My roommate is trans masc and today we were discussing passing for him, and what passing looks like and then we started talking about things that usually tip off cis girls about trans girls, and so I thought I’d make a tiny list for you!! These are not like, the most important thing ever, but idk I thought it might be helpful!

(Qualifications: cis girl, went by they/them pronouns for six years though so a STRONG ally. I am lgbtqia+!) (if this is rude I’ll take it down! Or mods please delete!)

Also disclaimer: I am not trying to generalize girlhood, everyone is different! I’m a very feminine presenting girl (though I was a tomboy for many years) so this is mostly leaning towards that :)

- this is honestly the biggest one, if you are putting a pony tail in your hair, you need to run your fingers through your hair. AMAB people use their palms a lot? I’ve noticed trans girls tend to continue using palms or their whole hand to pull up their hair, and that’s not how afab people do their hair (as a majority, there’s always outliers, of course!). The finger comb method smooths out the bumps and lumps, and kind of does that cutsie movement too!

- putting on chapstick or lipstick. If you purse your lips or hold it with your fist, that’s usually a dead giveaway! Part your lips slightly and use your fingers to hold the tube 🙂‍↕️

-even if you have no boobs and you’re wearing a tight shirt and you want to feel a tiny bit more girly, you should wear a sports bra! I have small boobs so they don’t stick out much, but I always like the way the bra outlines look under tank tops or tight shirts!

- I see a lot of trans girls first skirts be the little black pleated ones - which are cute! - but TENNIS. SKIRTS. Tennis skirts. They give you the CUTEST shape ever and have shorts underneath for movability! (Plus the sports bra + tennis skirt combo is elite like are you kidding)

- this is also a styling tip but try to perfect the pretty makeup but no makeup look. My every day is mascara, pink honey almost lipstick by Clinique (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LINE! My go to!), and I put the lipstick on my cheeks for blush and it looks so natural and really elevates how pretty I feel for the day (using your lipstick as a blush if it’s red or pink is also a great tip, it really helps pull everything together)

- if you’re just getting into jewelry, then make sure you find out which metal type is best for your skin!! There are charts and filters to help you!! Silver doesn’t look good on everyone (not me!) and the same with gold.

- back to hair again, because hair just seems to always be the tell for me, a lot of the time I see trans girls with messier hairstyles and absolutely I understand that you’re learning! But a lot of the time girls can be really picky about things like that, so if you’re doing a half up style and it’s parted weirdly or very lumpy up top it sort of is a little flag of “oh this person is different!”

That’s all I can think of for the moment, but feel free to ask questions or anything !!

Can someone explain to me the differences between Protestantism and Catholicism at the time of Henry VIII?

I focus more on his father, although I do know plenty about the family in personal life! But every time I try to get into the nitty gritty of it all, it’s mostly modern religious takes and I don’t know how they differ.

I know one major thing Protestantism brought to England was the publication of the English Bible, the sacking of the monasteries, things like that.

But how different would the religions have truly been?? The reform is definitely not my strong suit but sometimes to me it’s like looking at the same religion but one is without a crucifix and no pope 😭

I’m not religious by any means so I also can’t speak from personal experience between the two in modern times.

Traveling field schools/ general advice

Hi guys!

Does anyone know of any traveling field schools that maybe cover tuition/room and board? Or has scholarships for such things?

I know you usually have to pay a plane ticket price (which is still a lot for me, ngl)

I’ve been trying to research on my own but honestly it’s really overwhelming and none of my school counselors know much either, so if anyone knows of any off the top of their head I would be so appreciative!

I am based in Pennsylvania, US! I’m a current college student at a community college looking to transfer into archaeology next year, and would like to pad out my application more :) (any school recs also welcome!! From anywhere in the world!!)

I have my first dig! Any tips?

Hi guys!

Title maybe misleading but not intentionally! I got into a field school this summer, and I know it’s going to be long and hot and muggy.

To the women of this subreddit: what should I wear?

To everyone: any tips? What should I bring? Is a water bottle okay or should I bring one that attaches to me like a backpack or canteen?

Thanks!!
