Any Youtube videos or books or whateverthat analyzes the Soviet Union from a Marxist perspective?

The only book I have read so far is Blackshirts and Reds by Michael Parenti. I just want to be able to understand the Soviet Union more objectively. It feels very complex for me to understand especially when there is so much American propaganda.

It seems like at first anyway, the Soviet was very democratic. But then I heard about Stalin forcing food shortages in farms and arresting a lot of people. Don't know what to believe. And honestly I know very little. So I would like to educate myself on this.

What are your thoughts on the Soviet Union?

I haven't done enough research to discuss the USSR's successes & shortcomings to discuss it with enough confidence. I read Blackshirts and Reds from Michael Parenti & The ABC of Anarchism for a more Marxist view of the Soviet Union but I still would like to learn more. I know that the United States has the red scare tactics & a lot of propaganda based on the Soviet Union which is why I am seeking a more objective source. Even with other leftists, I still see it criticized. I however, am pretty prideful of the Soviet Union's accomplishments. I definitely think we made some progress to say the least on housing, healthcare & food for everyone despite whatever a lot of people say about Stalin's rule. There are also a lot of considerations for what was occuring during the soviet union which was World War 2 & a civil war. It seems like Lennin wanted justice for his brother and I think he had very good intentions.

Help me pick out a movie between these options or anything related? Really into psychological horror

1.) Gone Girl

2.) Enemy

3.) infinite space infinite terror

4.) Black Swan

5.) Dark City

5.) into the mouth of madness

I just watched Jacob's Ladder & Lost Highway and I was looking for something similar to that for context. It never watched any of the movies listed above & I am struggling to choose one. Or if you have any suggestions related to these movies, that would be even better.

I just finished SH1 for the first time

While, it was scary, And I did enjoy the game, this is one of those games where I do not mind a remake/remaster at all. Unlike silent hill 2, where it is very difficult to perfectly get the story and everything right, modernizing silent hill 1 and adding more would only enhance the experience and it is an extremely easy story to retell.

I think a complete remaster could do silent hill 1 a lot of justice in fact. If creative enough you can add certain things in the game that could make it much more scary than the original. I could imagine the ghosts in the remaster being much more scary and chasing you around the classroom for example being unable to die.

For those who played the original Silent hill 1, what are your thoughts on this?

Liberals just want another Obama. They will call it a day, tune out politics and will feel like everything is resolved

And that is the problem. It is not Republicans. The problem is liberals. They don't understand that the issue is the billionaires versus the working class. That the problem is capitalism. I feel like they genuinely don't care

Imagine traveling, exploring with wonder and curiosity. Sometimes you go through a cave and get trapped inside with a monster chasing you. Or you visit a house that is haunted. Maybe even a supernatural experience.

Vietnam and Cuba constantly have to defend themselves from the powers of imperialism. Third world countries are the way they are because dominant countries exploit them. The most imperialist countries like the United States are the ones that are able to napalm Vietnam if they don't like the socialism that is taking place. We can do whatever we want with our 800 military bases and we can just bomb countries like Saudia Arabia if we feel like or use Israel to do our dirty work.

Any socialist revolution that takes place will inevitably have U.S. involvement and it will never occur no matter how much we want it to.

Most people will disagree with this and you know what? That is perfectly fine.

I was someone who played silent hill 2 remake first. And there was a lot that I liked. The monsters were great at hiding from you so and the modern day mechanics did indeed enhance the experience. And there was a lot to like about the remake. The atmosphere was excellent. I loved the begining stages of the game. But then it got a bit repetitive for me. I didn't understand Maria or who she was supposed to be story wise. I thought she was just a random survivor.

However, if you are willing to play the original games, get past the fixed camera angles, you realize that there is a lot missing from the remakes.

I am doing my best to not overly criticize as a modern day audience will be absolutely convinced that the remake is excellent and will defend it no matter what. But, hear me out. The originals are actually a lot better.l in their own ways

1.) There is less padding, it is more straight to the point adding easier replay value. If you want to seek out different endings this is a lot easier.

2.) there is more to the story like the entire letter at the end of the original Silent hill 2, scenes that show how James helped Mary like dialogue of him arguing with the doctor and him reading books to help mary, the dialogue of James talking to Mary when she gives Mary flowers +( more than just that) and whatnot is left out. Just trust me here. There is important story elements completely left out

3.) the characters were better. Maria is a much more convincing actor in the original. Her sex appeal is a major part of the story that is left out in the remake. Eddie being a killer is not revealed until the end

4.) the combat. Yes! The combat. You can just run past monsters, in the prison area there is an invisible monster. The combat just makes much more sense to me surprisingly enough.

5.) the camera angles aren't that bad. You can press left trigger to get back to behind the character again or see where you cannot. And the camera angles add to the horror. It's like a horror movie.

I just cannot recommend the original enough to horror fans. They're classics for a reason. Please do yourself a favor and play them if you have a PC.

Instead of jobs, call them communities that you join. You can be part of the nature community that preserves the environment, the trades community, the video game community, etc. instead of a mod, I suggest a workers council

The classroom is all dark and eery. There are ghosts & monsters. And, you will go to an alternate dimension where it gets even scarier?!?! The first Silent Hill is something else
