Hey folks! 👋
After a break last weekend, we're back. We're hosting in HSR again.
No Catan here, no Terraforming Mars or Dune Imperium either. We don't have complex games, or those that run for over an hour because we want to spread the joy of board gaming to as many people as possible.
That said, I've been building my collection since 2023, carefully curating the most beginner-friendly games and watching multiple YouTube videos to make my explanations simpler. My teammates are also great at simplifying games for newbies.
This time our focus would be on award winning games made by game designers right here in India 🇮🇳

Good fresh food. Two types of chutneys usually.
Kai chutney and kadle chutney.
Slightly higher price than everywhere else - but I love the freshness and the fact that they use wood pressed oil, good quality ghee, etc.
Rottis: ₹100
Shavige uppitu/ rava upma: ₹50
Meals are also available during day time.
Happy mother's day everyone!
This is my mom and I. I lost her to cancer about a year ago.
She was more than a mom to me. She was my best friend - I miss the audio notes, everyday check-ins now.
I used to tell her most of what happened throughout my days - my crushes, office gossip and everything under the sun!
She was kinda conservative and always considered me a good buoy. I would rarely lie to her - even if I would, I would just confess a few days later.
One time I had to travel with my then girlfriend. She said - "Beta wo sab theek hai, par tum log kuch galat kaam mat karna!"
All my life I'd lived with the "good buoy" tag. I never ever let her find out that I drink. But afterall they are parents. They know when you sneak into the house at 1 AM, they know when your clothes smell of cigarette smoke. They just never let you know that they know! 😂
Cut to this moment. I knew exactly what she meant by "galat kaam", and I felt rebellious within. I didn't want to keep hearing these taunts all my life..
I gathered courage and said - "Maa, main saari zindagi virgin nai rahunga!"
That moment was intense - I was expecting her to lash out in anger. But to my surprise, she started laughing hysterically.
So I went on that trip, did the galat kaam, but I'd like to believe I'm still a "good buoy" or in my mother's words - "Subodh baalak" 😂
What are some of your recent favourite memories with your mom?
I want to make my community safer for women participants. Need your opinions.
Hello hello! 👋
I'm building a community - the idea is to use boardgames as a catalyst for genuine IRL connections.
Our meetups and community is not meant for dating, but we want to keep it inclusive. We typically get about 15-20 people every weekend - but the group photo at the end always ends up looking like a typical Bangalore startup team pic - 18 guys, and 2 girls.
Here's the problem - I know that there are a lot of women out there that would love to play - but at the same time avoid coming down or even commenting our Reddit posts about upcoming meetups.
I get it. I have a sister too - and I do everything in my power to keep her away from bullsh*t.
I try to keep an eye out during my meetups but I'm not sure how much I can control this when we scale. I've seen this happen a lot with other meetups - unsolicited DMs, creepy behaviour, etc.
So I'm pre-emptively taking these steps:
Never host at an apartment - always in public places like cafes
Never host in pubs and bars. No drinking allowed
No groups in our WhatsApp community - just an announcement group. And a WhatsApp channel for those who want to stay updated without sharing their numbers.
Keep our meetups during mornings or early evenings so that it's easy for everyone to get cabs/ be back home.
Women in the sub - what else can we do to keep our meetups and community safe?
I'm here at Empire main branch. Just hungry. Not drunk.
Saw some cops have shut it down.
Any other places to find food at this time?
So I was at this homely restaurant in Mysore today called Kellaty's kitchen. I had a nice breakfast and just as I was leaving, I saw the owner taking out one big container outside.
Upon being asked - he said it's upma/ uppitu. He was gonna give free samples to everyone who passed by. I'm a regular at this place cause they make village style food and use the best ingredients.
Me being the enthu cutlet that I am - I asked him if I can help. He said "Yes, why not". So I joined his stall and started talking to people.
Initially, many people just chose to ignore us. It was disheartening - it reminded me of the days when only 3-4 folks used to turn up to my meetups in Bangalore.
Sometimes, those who register also would ask how many people are turning up - and wouldn't want to join cause who'd join a 5-people meetup right?
But then something amazing started happening - 1 person tried a sample, then as he was eating - one more..
Slowly, we had about a dozen people, then more. Until we ran out of the upma!
Made me think - why was I getting so disappointed with the initial rejections? There have been many such weekends at my meetup - just 4-5 people. But I refuse to give up. I want to continue to spread the joy.
So I want to thank all those who have supported us thus far - even if you've simply upvoted one of our posts! If you're one of the first few people joining a community - just believe that you're joining something bigger than yourself. Communities are built one big heart at a time - and certainly not by one person alone.
And a HUGE salute to every single one of you community builders posting here - it's not easy.
Anyway, this week we're on a break. But next week we'll be back with a bang! If you want to stay in the loop - hit me up.
Let's roll some dice and break the ice 🔨 🧊
Does anyone have a good contact for gardening/ landscaping services in Mysore?
Looking to give away over a dozen plants + getting good grass in the mini-garden up front.
Also need creepers for the side and front walls.
If anyone wants plants and can take care of them - do let me know. You'll just have to pay for transport (₹300-500 bucks depending on where you live in the city)
Was able to sleep by 11 PM and got good deep sleep for 6 hours.
Enough to hit the gym!
Wanna listen to some nice tracks and vibe together. Feel free to add your tracks or listen to what others are sharing.
Comment here and I'll DM you the link.
I've had SO many poor experiences with Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters and the like. Even service technicians from reputed brands sometimes.
So unprofessional and they act like they're the kings of Mysore. Never come on time - poor service, the ones on Justdial just price their services so high you never wanna call them again. Even this service called 'Service Raju' doesn't have these people on their payroll. They just assign some third party vendor.
Even the maids here are unreliable - all the time taking leaves for something or the other.
If you've experienced the same - comment down below.
If anyone has contacts of these folks or there is a similar platform like UrbanClap, please comment here.
So I'm up at 4:50 after sleeping at 10 PM. But I still feel sleepy. I want to continue this schedule so it's better that I don't sleep again now.
Any tips?
Hi all. Is anyone aware of a tiffin service that delivers to Kuvempunagara?
Preferably where I can give my tiffin carrier cause I don't want plastic packaging.
Hey guys!
Remember Balloo? He's out to spread good vibes and positivity today.
So in case you're having Monday blues, he sends hugs!
So four of us from this sub decided to meet for morning gedi 🏍️🚘
I'd come across this post asking if anyone is up for early morning ride and breakfast and I was up so I responded.
There were two others so we quickly planned something and decided to have breakfast at Babai Tiffins, HSR. No agenda, no destination in mind. 7:30 AM we were dunking vadas in peanut chutney and having hearty convos!
We spoke our hearts out and had a really great time! Wish we can do this again sometime. So thankful that this sub exists!
We're also looking for more like-minded folks for early morning hangouts. Please DM the OP of this post if you wanna join. He plans to run this regularly.
It feels like we have a safe space for everyone. It's not boys-only or anything. Everyone's welcome regardless of age, gender, language.
Here's a song I've been listening to after we met 🎧
Need good sleep cause I automatically wake up early.
Masala Dosa at Babai Tiffins, HSR is so amazing. The peanut chutney was the highlight for me. Has anyone tried it?
In case you haven't, do check it out.

If you're not able to make it this weekend but wanna be in the loop for when we host next - do let me know :)
Driving within Bangalore during nights and mornings is surprisingly pleasant.
AP Dhillon playing on the stereo, spirited driving, nothing risky. Some chai / coffee breaks perhaps.
I'm staying near Bommanahalli Metro so if you can come nearby it'll help. It's 15 mins from Koramangala, 5 mins from HSR at this hour.
This is not a paid meetup. No agenda. I'll start by 6 AM and return around 7 or 8 AM.
Who's in?
