KY-04 Called, Massie’s Anti-Establishment Stand (and Epstein Files Push) Reaches its Verdict

The high-profile showdown for Kentucky's 4th Congressional District has been officially called by NBCnews and others.

This primary became one of the costliest and most heavily watched House races of the midterm cycle, serving as a direct test of political influence in the district. Incumbent Thomas Massie faced a fierce, heavily funded challenge from Navy SEAL veteran Ed Gallrein, who carried Donald Trump's explicit backing.

A central narrative of the race was Massie's independent streak., most notably his aggressive leadership on Capitol Hill to force transparency and release the files of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, a move that fueled his anti-establishment backing but escalated his feud with the party's national apparatus.

Because this northern Kentucky district is a deeply conservative stronghold, the winner of tonight's primary is heavily favored to clear the general election on November 3.

  • Oil prices rose today in response to the weekend’s uncertainty over U.S.-Iranian negotiations on a peace plan. Meanwhile, gas prices are hovering at $4.52 per gallon ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.
  • Trump leaves for China this week to meet with President Xi Jinping for a summit that had been delayed earlier this year because of the Iran war. Trump is expected to ask the Chinese leader to press Iran to accept U.S. demands for a peace deal.
