Questions on potential CPO i5 vs. new stock

I've been scrolling through this subreddit for a few weeks but first time posting on it.

I'm looking for an EV sedan. I drove a relative's Tesla M3 for several weeks as a daily driver but I hated how sterile and utilitarian it was. I've driven BMW 3-series in the past (parents each had an E46 and E93 cabrios which I would sometimes drive them in when I was young and I loved them).

I've been eyeing some i5s on the road and went to my local BMW dealer and sat in some to get a feel.

My use case is that I live in Southern California, have a L2 charger at home with J1772, switching from an 8 year old Honda sedan, daily 40-mile roundtrip commute mainly on highways, would also like to use it on the weekends as short trip family car within SoCal with a 3yr old in a car seat and potentially having another baby in the next year. Our other car is a small SUV for longer trips.

If I could build a brand new BMW i5 on the website, it seems like an eDrive with M Sport design, the driver assistance, and the executive packages would be great. It'd be around $77K MSRP. My main concern with new EVs is the depreciation, and I've been looking into CPOs, 2024s seem to be in the mid-40s but without the executive packages in my area.

My main questions are:

  1. Any certain add-ons / packages that are necessary to really enjoy the car? Any that are over-rated?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I confirmed it was accepted with a submission number on FreeTaxUSA. MFJ, never had a problem in prior years, both W-2 and expecting a refund. No codes in my transcript. Do I need to get my spouse an IRS account to see if she has any messages if we’re MFJ?
