2 problems with lasers from Earth powering laser sail ships over extremely long distances is that 1) the laser would spread out and loses focus, and 2) gas/dust would scatter the beam.
Ignore those.
I want to know how sending a laser sail ship to the edge of the universe would have to deal with 1) the redshifting of the beam as the ship gets closer and closer to c, 2) the redshifting of the beam as it travels over expanding space, and 3) how the time dilation of the ship would affect it also.
